Extremely unprofessional. I called 3 times before I ever came to the facility and no one answered either time. The lady at the desk when I drove 30 minutes to get there, got an attitude when I told her that it would’ve been nice if someone had answered the phone so I wouldn’t have had to drive 30 minutes just to be told they can’t help me. She said “it’s not my fault the postmaster didn’t answer the phone” (as if she’s deaf and didn’t hear it ringing too) and tried telling me they were on some business call when I was calling. (My call log showed that all three times I called was NOT during lunch OR the postmasters super important phone call. Wasted my time going up there. And my gas. Horrible customer service. And yes I got nasty with the lady because why are YOU mad that someone expected you or literally anyone else there to do the job yall are paid to do? I always call ahead no matter WHERE I go so that situations like this don’t happen because I like being prepared and against my better judgement, made the drive anyway despite being in a nasty car accident the day before. Driving is the last thing I wanted to do and I drive for an hour for nothing because of their lack of wanting to answer a phone.
Update 4/2/25- there is still no resolution, I have left this review and a complaint As well as my sister. I have yet to receive a phone call from the post office. And I know that somebody reads these reviews so if I don’t receive a phone call Before the post office closes, I’ll take it as high as I can. There’s no reason after all of this we still shouldn’t have this figured out. At this point, I’m going after people’s jobs. I know of two right off hand. James and whoever the big blonde lady is that doesn’t know how to answer a phone.

Nobody ever answers the phone. I've wasted gas SO many times traveling up there and then dealing with the staff in person is an absolute nightmare. Everyone I have encountered in that office has absolutely NO concept of friendliness or professionalism! They make you feel like you're a hassle if you come in to trouble shoot a delivery problem. I do have to say the carrier for my neighborhood is very nice and polite though. At least one person knows people skills and how to do their job.

Only gave 1 star because zero was not an option! Pathetic excuse for a Post Office! Who opens for 2 hours closes for an hour an and a half then open 3 hours and gone? Ridiculous. Oh and don’t try and call because NO ONE WILL EVER ANSWER THE PHONE!!! This place is HORRIBLE

Jim at the post office was great yesterday 5/31/24. I got a po box in less than 10 minutes, would have been quicker if not for my mistakes! Very helpful, asked if I had done a change of address yet. Then gave me the pamphlet and walked me through it!

I don't know why there are so many negative comments. Today I was assisted by Mr Jim and his service was extremely friendly, and excellent. Jim took the time to explain to me how to change my address and took the time to explain the entire process of renting the new PO Box.Also, I want to mention who assisted him at that time, the lady was excellent and looked for all possible options so that I could have the PO Box. She made sure I didn't walk out the door without assisting me. I don't remember her name but she did an amazing job too.

I went in on 10/19 to pay for my mailbox key, $35, and was told that it would take a few days and they would call me when it was available for pickup. On 10/25 I went again to the post office to check on the status, and the girl working there found my card requesting the key was still in a box, she also mentioned that the guy who had me fill out the card never gives them to the person in charge of getting the keys. She said it would only be a few days before my key was in. I went to the post office today, 10/30 and now my card isn't there anymore, and thankfully I still had the receipt to prove I'd paid. I told the guy that I'm expecting my new debit card and needed my key seeing as it has now been 11 DAYS since I paid for it. The post master now made her appearance saying that it depends on whether she's there and whether she's in pain. So basically the person who runs the post office is never there and if she can't perform her job due to pain she should retire and get disability. This is not my problem, I clean two houses a day in pain, most people have aches and pains and go to work every day. Umatilla is a really small community, you would think it would have great service like most small towns. Apparently it's just a government business that typically promotes people one level higher than their capabilities.

Jim needs to be fired, I've been there 4-5 times in 3 months because they refuse to deliver packages/daily mail correctly. Every time you go in there he makes people feel stupid and that its your fault your mail didn't get to you. I haven't received mail in 3 weeks but girlfriend gets her mail regularly. Someone tried sending me a gift for my birthday, about two weeks later, it was back in the senders mailbox as NMR (No Mail Receptacle) The best he could do was take my name and number after I left work to go deal with them because Jim hears the phone ringing and takes it off the hook.

I moved on 7/29 and put in a change of address then why in God’s name is my mail still sitting at the post office saying “No forwarded address “? I don’t think they even bother to look in the system to see if I had put in one! This is why the USPS is going bankrupt!! Lousy customer service!
