Quite a variety of things to do and see- family friendly options include visiting the Living lagoon aquariums, short boardwalk hikes through a mangrove forest and kayaking/canoeing opportunities. Touch tank available 10-12 and 1-3 pm. Three pontoon eco- tours daily- reserve ahead. I've done the 9-11am one several times but my favorite is the sunset tour. I learn more about lagoon ecology each time. Nice gift and snack shop. Fyi- those are harmless mangrove crabs on the tree in the photo!

These pontoon boat rides are intimate because there are only 16 passengers, it's not too crowded, everyone has a great seat & view and you can walk around to follow the dolphins as they frolic along side you! The boat captain and assistant know all the birds, wildlife and fauna in the area and are quick to share their knowledge. The value of this ride is unsurpassed by anything else in the Vero Beach area.

Outstanding pontoon-boat cruise to the Pelican Island National Wildlife Sanctuary on the Indian River Lagoon, one of the most bio-diverse estuaries in the country. Captain Karin and Naturalist Bob, were outstanding in navigating through the shallows and mangrove-lined secluded areas, pointing beautiful wildlife for us to view through the binoculars they provided. First Class!!

I went here on a school field trip last week for my kids school. I will certainly come back with my family and friends, can't wait for summer time to explore and experience all the amenities they offer.

I love ELC’s Little Wonders! It’s so healing to be outside with other like minded parents and children, surrounded by wildlife. My 2.5 year old daughter had a blast. I wish they had it once a week. Please try to make them more often!

Wonderful pontoon tour of pelican Island. Great bird sightings with roseate spoonbills, white pelicans, Woodstorks, and many others. The learning center has wonderful activities for people of all ages. Love the hiking trails. We’ll definitely come back if in the area.

My family and I went on the pontoon boat tour of Pelican Island and had a great time! We ended up seeing a lot of wildlife and learned about the conservation work that is being done to bring the Indian River Lagoon back to its former glory. Our boat captain, Corinne and our tour guide, Cynthia did an amazing job sharing stories, educating, and keeping everyone engaged! I highly recommend this experience.

My kids 7 and 4 years old and I absolutely loved our day at the Environmental Learning Center. It far exceeded our expectations.
We loved the small aquarium where we learned about marine life and even got to touch hermit crabs and starfish! The seashell collection and chart was impressive! We also loved seeing the seahorses, turtles and seeing some creatures with the microscope display.
We spend a lot of time at the nature play area cooking in the sand kitchen, climbing on the structures and swinging. There is also a mud kitchen by the entrance/store.
Most of all we loved walking the paths and over the wetlands and seeing all of the crabs crawling up the trees.
It was a sunny and warm day but most paths were shaded.
The store sells some snacks and educational books and toys etc.
Great day trip for us and would come back again when in town!

Nice Nature Walks Through Mangroves to the Water. $10 admission for adults and $5 for children. They have a small aqua building with a touch tank with starfish. Very nice.

We rented kayaks and walked the trails. The process is easy and smooth. The facilities and all the equipment are clean. All of the workers were very kind. We saw dolphins in the lagoon, which is beautiful! A perfect way to spend an afternoon!

I attended a Christmas event which included a canoe ride through the mangroves at night with lights in the mangroves and a campfire for roasting marshmallows and making s’mores. It was very fun.
Another day I attended an outdoor yoga class. Also very good.

I organized a private boat tour for my Master’s swim team this past weekend (16 people). It completely exceeded my expectations!
We were able to bring our own snacks and drinks aboard, which we shared with Marty (boat captain) and Chris (volunteer guide). It was a blast! The two of them really made the experience wonderful with their knowledge and humor.
A must-do tour for locals and tourists of all ages; it makes you appreciate how special our lagoon is!

We went for the private boat tour on the Indian River, we highly recommend this for anyone visiting the area! Chris and Marty were both knowledgeable and excellent with "kids" of all ages. This will be our go to for any visitors coming into town. Education that included both wildlife and local folklore was greatly appreciated. Great for seeing dolphins and too many birds to list!
