Had the pleasure of visiting this facility recently. The staff was welcoming and very knowledgeable and there was no barking. The lobby and outside areas were pristine. Unfortunately I didn't find the small dog I was looking for at that time but will definately follow them to see if one comes in. They could certainly be a role middle for other humane societies.

Despite me being a retired USAF officer on 2 acres with a large fenced yard, the inspector graded me as unfit to adopt the dog I selected. These people really pissed me off.

I lost my dog June 27, 2023. I was in Palm Beach emergency vet. I started to look at a new dog immediately ended up at Vero Beach. I looked hard for a good fog for my elder pup.. I got all my expectations filled. I looked at about 150 dogs from palm beach to vero not one of them was a match for my older dog cause I didn’t want a puppy I’m 62 when I was leaving Vero Beach, they were walking a dog that look just like the one I lost so I went to meet him and I’m sure glad I did best ever his name was Seamus, but I named him Snickers and I love him to death. He loves dogs, cats people kids all ages he doesn’t run he’s good with my older dog , I don’t know what he was doing at the shelter ??????????????

My daughter found a dog on there site Sunday 11/26/23, We called to make sure the dog was at the facility before we made an 45 minute drive to their county. Someone confirmed the dog was there but by the time we got ready to go they called my daughter to let her know the dog had been adopted. One hour later someone called my daughter back saying the dog was back at the shelter. On Monday 11/27/23 my mother daughter and I drove down to the shelter (we live up in Brevard County) to go look at the dog so we had to wait a little bit to do a meet and grèet with the dog we were interested. We decided to take the dog. We were told by staff the the dog we were interested in was really sweet and seemed to be good with the other dogs at the facility. Once we got home and tried to do a meet and greet with the new dog and our Pomeranian. Things were okay in the beginning. About a half hour with the dog being in our house the new dog went after our little Pomeranian. We took the dog immediately back to shelter because of what the dog did to our dog. They would not give us a refund on the adoption fee. Its not like we had the dog for a day or two or week. The dog was only with us 2 whole hours (when we left for the drive home 45 minutes 30 minutes in the house and a 45 minute drive back to return the dog). The money used to adopt the dog was Christmas money that was my 82 year old money who is on a fixed income and adopting the dog was going to be my daughters early Christmas gift from my mom. I feel its totally wrong of them for not refunding the money to us being the situation. However it would not be fair to anyone else trying to adopt a pet. When I left Monday to return the dog the girl at the desk she couldnt do anything until she talked to her boss on Tuesday. I called yesterday 11/28/23 to talked to someone as I was instructed to do so. The person who answered the phone said she would talk to someone and return my call by 1pm and no phone call. Today 11/29/23 no one will answer the phone. If this doesnt get resolved I am going to seek help to get my $$$$ back

I adopted a cat less than two weeks ago. The cat was underweight. The cat weighed less than the paperwork said, and they didn’t weigh her after they took her into realize a weight-loss.I didn’t have any disclosure that she had an eating disorder or uti. It’s been nothing but a nightmare having to take the cat to a vet that’s open during my work hours. I called the shelter and they wouldn’t help me with the bill. 0 stars Either way, regardless I would recommend getting an animal from somewhere that will disclose the health problems.

Feeling pretty sad that I have to leave a negative review on a place like Humane Society. But I have been hunting for an orange kitten for the last few weeks as a surprise for my daughters 13th birthday. They had two, so I drove an hour up here with my 3&4 year olds. Walked in and told the girl at the desk we were there to meet the orange kittens. She was helping someone and told me we needed to have someone let us in but we could look in the window. We looked in the window and then patiently waited in front of the desk to meet the kittens. The girl at the desk completely ignored the fact that I was even standing there as she helped a couple other people. I stood there waiting patiently for over an hour and when she was finally done with everyone (except me) she started chit chatting with a coworker about the cats who’d been adopted that week. While I still just stood there waiting. About 5 minutes into their conversation, the other employee noticed me and asked if I’d been helped. I said I was still waiting to meet the orange kittens... The girl at the desk looked at me and said “oh you wanted to meet them?” (Which were the exact words I’d told her when I walked in the door an hour earlier) so yes, I want to meet them and take one home. I certainly didn’t drive an hour to look at them through a window. She sighs and calls someone else to let me in to meet them (mind you now she’s made us wait until AFTER they closed). Another girl showed up to let us meet them, she seemed a little irritated that we were there after closing, but I’m guessing she had no idea we’d been waiting to meet them for over an hour. So she let us in the room but told us we couldn't touch the kittens and couldn’t adopt them today bc they were closed and we should come back the next day to meet and adopt one. This was very irritating as apparently orange kittens are a hot commodity and we drove back home disappointed. We were unable to go the following day as it was a Friday and I had to work. Got up early this morning and both of the orange kittens were already adopted - it took one business day. So I’m back on the hunt for my daughters birthday present after wasting two hours of gas & time driving there with small children to be completely ignored for over an hour until they closed and turned me down.Extremely disheartening for me and my 3&4 year olds who didn’t understand why we didn’t get to take one home. I understand that the people working here might be volunteers but if you’re putting someone at the front desk they really should be trained in customer service skills. Personally, when I walked in wanting to meet them, she should have buzzed someone up right then. I unfortunately didn’t speak up the entire time bc I figured she was going to be the one letting us in and I was trying to be understanding that she was helping others. I don’t understand what she could have possibly thought I was standing there for that entire time or why she chose to ignore me and let me continue to stand there once she was done with everybody and have a casual conversation knowing someone was still standing directly in front of her desk. This girl was you with brown hair and glasses.I gave only one start for the girl at the desk and I decided to give two stars simply because the facility itself seemed great. The cats were happy and cages were clean. It was very well taken care of.
