Four stars for location & a usually friendly front end store staff. ZERO STARS for the PHARMACY. I will attempt to not get personal, but it's difficult. The two pharmacy staffers I dealt with on 5/6/20 between 4 PM & 5 PM close, were NOT satisfactory. In fact, their actions were dangerous. After a progressive care physician had phoned in RXs for my elderly family member (who left the hospital by ambulance to now receive Hospice care @ my home), I drove to the pharmacy to retrieve the three bottles of pills. However, at 4 PM I was told to return 10 minutes before close due to the long wait time. I returned at 4:50 PM (as instructed) and was handed three bags containing three bottles of pills. Stupid me glanced quickly at the pills & saw Folic Acid (one of the three), signed, & paid for all 3 bottles, then exited. At approximately 5:20 PM (w/ the pharmacy now closed), I realized the other two Rx's were incorrect; the pharmacist had filled old Rx's NOT needed. The CRUCIAL new heart medication & antibiotic were missing. Unfortunately, NO CVS store pharmacy anywhere in driving distance was open, not even the 24-hr locations. Hospital staff graciously assisted me in phone searching for any open pharmacy over two counties-- to no avail. I was then forced to drive back to the hospital in a neighboring town to retrieve two temporary & limited Rx's. (Thankfully, I had been able to find someone to stay at my home w/ my sickly relative.) The next morning I phoned the CVS pharmacy & spoke w/ two more competent members of the pharmaceutical staff. And after questioning, I learned that I hadn't been given the heart medication because there were not enough pills in stock-- just 3-days worth (which I SHOULD have been told...& offered). There was no known reason why I hadn't been provided the antibiotic. Hello??! I had even explained to the pharmacy tech that my relative had been transported by ambulance & was receiving hospice care, yet staff sent me home without her VITAL new heart medication & antibiotic-- & without telling me?! Yesterday's pharmaceutical staffers REALLY messed up. My parent, who has a serious heart condition, was not only deprived necessary medications, but two former medications not requested (i.e. not what the physician had phoned in) were sent home instead. The icing on the sorry cake is that neither staff member had been very friendly or kind upon each visit yesterday. The male, especially, was COLD. Pharmacy staff is not employed to simply fill bottles of pills. Its duty is to assist in the treatment of the entire patient, which includes providing friendly, quality, & SAFE service to patients & their family members. Please speak with your staff, Pharmacy Manager Brandy P. What happened to me (regarding my mum) bordered on negligence. I will be contacting Corporate.
