Erna Nixon Park is a 53.93-acre community park and nature preserve featuring a natural Florida hammock. It contains a 3,000-foot elevated boardwalk winding through the area, which is excellent and peaceful. The boardwalk is safe, well-maintained, handicap accessible, and great for kids. It passes native plant species, small animals, and even fruit trees. There are placards describing the trees and plants, a sand box for wildlife footprints, and a butterfly wings photo piece. The park offers a small Nature Center with exhibits, a medium pavilion with picnic tables, and convenient, clean restroom facilities. It is a popular site for nature walks, providing a quiet, natural, and beautiful environment to enjoy. The park is open from dawn until dusk.
