“Flamingo Road Nursery is much more than an excellent place to purchase all your landscaping supplies, flowering trees and plants, pottery and such! This business reached out to the community, during the pandemic, encouraging us to come with our masks on to walk, view the flowers and butterflies, and enjoy the serenity of nature, with no obligation to buy items. Since I love this place anyway, I went several times to soak in the sun and fresh air among the vibrant blooms and whimsical sculptures. It was a welcome diversion during our worse Covid days. Of course, I did add some orchids to my collection—they are all from Flamingo Road Nursery, and my basil and rosemary plants are full and beautiful! I need to expand my herb garden, so we will make a trip this weekend! In addition to plants, they have a diverse array of gardening items, pots, wind chimes, all of which make great holiday gifts for your gardening enthusiasts. I love this establishment and thank them for all they do for our community. Don’t forget the Farmer’s Market and restaurant! Great sandwiches and pastries!”

They took the time to show us all the different breeds and explain which types do better in light and darker environments. We purchased a beautiful soon-to-bloom Florida Sunset as well as a really fun staghorn fern! It was such a delight meeting knowledgeable people that are passionate about their trade. I was greeted by no less than 4 employees and the kind woman who helped me was just as enthusiastic about the different native plants both for my catapillars and eventual butterflies as I was. “I recently had the pleasure of attending a soundbath at this enchanting garden venue. The symphony of nature's sounds blended seamlessly with the crystal singing bowls, creating a tranquil ambiance. The gardens were immaculate, and the orchid selection was exceptional. A word of caution for nighttime visitors, the entrance can sneak up on you, so slow down when you spot the billboard for the turn. This place is magical and I'm excited to return during the daytime!”

“I found Sandi's shop, Broward Orchid Supply, from a Google search. I needed some advice and supplies to report my Vanda and my Dendrobium, and I am so glad I stopped by her eclectic little place! She guided me in the right direction by telling me exactly what to do with both of my plants. Sandi took her time to explain what technique I should use to repot my orchids, and she gave me precisely what I needed to achieve this task. She didn't try to oversell me a bunch of things or anything like that. Sandi is super silly and quirky which made the experience entertaining and didactic. She is very knowledgable on orchids and maps out a plans for each customer. For example, I can't water my Vanda daily, maybe every 3 to 5 days I can actually water it, so she instructed me to repot it into a basket and add some moisture holding medium which she has in her shop. Obviously Vanda needs lots of air so I am keeping it very airy, but with some coco coir fiber and New Zealand bark chips so that moisture is retained between watering. As for my Dendrobium, I put her in a clay pot with some of the bark chips and a layer of LFSM. If you have questions about your orchid or need some supples give her a call or stop by her shop!”

“Coming to Hialeah is always an adventurous trek, it's like entering a parallel dimension of Alice in Wonderland, except no one speaks English. Being a child of Christ, I'm always wearing my cross when entering this land of Cuban Voodoo. I just happened to be in the area today when I saw Botanica Olocun(Olokun). The name Olocun piqued my interest as I've only seen a few south Florida Botanicas with Orisha names, but I've never seen one with Olocun. Olocun aka Poseidon is one of my favorite gods. Being a child of Christ, I took the cross off my neck and held in my hand as I walked into this place of sin, witchcraft and devilry. As I entered I could hear the whispers of devils, I witnessed the evils of Africa and the sins of Arawak Indians that the bringers of Christ had failed to fully extinguish. This place is huge and it's packed with statues, life-sized statues, candles, magical perfumes, sacred plants, sacred stones, stick and resin incense, orisha vases, many books on magic/occult/orisha, spiritual & African soaps, spirit animated things, and sacred wood. In reality, they carry way too many things to list. It's a one-stop shop for brujeras, santeros, sorcerers, warlocks, witches, shamans, wiccans and spiritualists, it's basically a glorified depot for all those who oppose the tenets of Christ. For those seeking guidance in thier lives, they also have a private room in the back for spiritual readings. I ended up buying a blue candle, and a couple of Nigerian dudu osun soaps. Surprisingly, they could speak English, so before I left, being concerned about their after-life, I inquired if they've ever heard of Jesus.”

Service was excellent from the owner (and his well mannered dog). I'll definitely be coming back not only for more ground cover but to also add other plants they grow to my landscape.”

“This cute little shop is located in Miami Shores Village. Next to an ice cream store and a gift shop adds toth e quaint of the neighborhood's already beautiful chill small town vibe. There are pots, grape wood, fertilizers, and beautiful little plants for your house. Terrific gifts here. I like to come here and just spend a little bit of time amongst the green and see what kind of new plants and pots I can add to my collection of greenery in my home.”

“Bill is a very nice guy that loves trees. He has a day job so it is obvious that he grows mango and avocado trees out of interest. This is great because he is very knowledgeable about the trees and likes to share his experience with you. I bought a nice mango tree from him at a very reasonable price and he walked me through the steps of planting it and caring for it. He even gave some special fertilizer for free that i needed to use immediately after planting the tree. Overall if you need mango or avocado trees go and talk to him. You will be glad you did.”

“This is a fabulous private nursery on W 84 st in Hialeah also known as NW 138 st. It’s on the border of Hialeah and Miami Lakes. It is family owned and run. The prices are better than Home Depot or Lowes and the plant selection is good although availability may vary from week to week. You can special order specific plants if you like and they usually get them within the week. They have gravel and soil as well as grass squares that can be delivered directly to your home or business. This is one of my favorite hometown businesses to promote. Highly recommended.”
