Last Sunday I attended the concert of the 9th Symphony. I believe performance level by the musicians was fine and especially the chorus. Great sound when they were singing in full.Respectfully, I found one aspect odd in having the chorus members all sitting at the same level behind the orchestra. This apparently forced the organizers to place the solists in front of everyone - which in my view demerits the actual orchestra. The entire chorus should be in the back, at a higher level than all musicians (like on a stairs platform), which will also enable to deliver the sound of voices more effectively. The solists in this case of course will look appropriate at the head of the chorus.

I want to thank everyone involved in tonight's "sold out" performance of Beethoven's Ninth at the Broward Performing Arts Center. You truly captured the music and more importantly heart and soul of this monumental piece. So proud of you all!

A friend brought me to the Symphony recently. Shostakovich Symphony 5 was outstanding. The musicians and the conductor were moving together as if they were one. I am so thankful to have experienced this wonderful orchestra and looking forward to attending more concerts!

This orchestra DOES NOT PAY ITS MUSICIANS. They hire out of state musicians, lighting directors, vendors...then stiff them on their pay. They are a SCAM! Look up the news articles.

Am proud to be a member of this fine orchestra, which during my two year tenure has tackled bold, exciting projects with artistic aplomb. Bravo to Sebrina. (And contrary to some apparently very ill-informed posts, have been paid for every single concert to date.)

This orchestra doesn't pay their musicians, and many are owed thousands. They embezzle grant money.

This business is atrocious. They owe money to their employees since its founding.

The South Florida Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1997 by Sebrina Maria Alfonso who is the teacher and conductor. The orchestra performs all over South Florida from Palm Beach to Monroe counties. Two honors the orchestra has received are they are a recognized as a Broward major cultural institution and a special presentations partner with the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. The orchestra is passionate about bringing classical music to school children who may be hearing it for the first time. I was able to attend one of the five free educational programs they offer, Peter and the Wolf. They made it very child friendly by providing an introduction to the story, music, and instruments. They also encouraged audience participation with costumes. I am familiar with the story of Peter and Wolf from my own childhood and it was a treat to see the piece performed live by a talented orchestra. A full schedule of their performances can be found on their website. You can also enter to win tickets to a concert and donate money to support this cultural institution.
