If I could rate my experience here “no stars” I would!I feel humiliated and racially discriminated against.I won my car accident suit and went to this bank that my Law Firm uses to cash the check to avoid a hold at my bank. I have never been asked to produce my social security card and picture ID to cash a check. When I asked to see the policy in writing I was told it was not in writing, then the other staff member said it was in writing and she could get it from another office. She failed to get someone on the phone and no manager was present. Then she said that my lawyer knows it is their bank policy, he should have informed me.I called my lawyer immediately and asked about this policy he said he never heard of this before, that the only policy he was aware of was that they would not cash a check for more than $25K.So clearly I was lied to!Because the check was for more than $18K and I am Black, I was asked for additional ID, even if they asked for more state ID, I carry that. But my Social Security Card!!! I don’t know anyone who carries their social security card on them, nor have I ever had it required to cash a check in America, and I am 55 years old and been around for a while. This bank and their staff need to be investigated. My lawyer has said he will make further inquiries into this so called Policy?!!Will never bank her again and probably file a discrimination law suit.
