Had really high hopes for this one! Great setting, right on the Withlacoochee River. Very friendly servers and great inspection rating. My husband ordered a signature drink which came in a rocks glass, but was less than half full. I ordered a glass of wine which had gotten vinegary from being opened too long. The flies were obnoxious…all over us, and our food. The rolls were so dry they crumbled in your hands, which made them difficult to eat. The calamari was light, tender and excellent!! The salad was super fresh and large. The steaks were huge and cooked to perfection with a nice buttery flavor. The garlic mash potatoes were also huge and very fresh tasting. I ordered Mac and Cheese as a side, but had no idea there would be bacon in it. It was very good, super rich and creamy, but they really should put on the menu that there is a lot of bacon in it. If the flies hadn’t been so bad, I would’ve given it five stars. All in all, we will be back!

We always go here for a special occasion. This time it was for my husband's birthday. We started out with a shrimp appetizer with a spicy BBQ sauce over it which was delicious!! For the main course I had the thick pork chops that had a delicious gravy type topping. It was delicious!! It comes with a salad and roll. My husband had the shrimp with a hot spice topping which they put on the side at his request. It was also delicious!! We had the berry cobble for desert and then took home two key lime pies. Let me tell you, they do NOT skimp on the portions. We had leftovers for dinner the next night. The waiter also was excellent!!

What a disappointment! I ordered snapper and husband ordered grilled grouper. $38 each and they came with only one side. We chose garlic mashed since baked potatoes weren't offered and got two big scoops of potatoes which served as a plate filler. No salad was included (available ala carte), and no vegetables were included with the entree. Green beans could be ordered as an appetizer. No lemon on the plate. Just a 4" square of fish and the potatoes--butter had to be requested. Wine and cocktails were small. Key lime pie had a paper thin graham cracker crust. Seasoning on the snapper was extremely salty. We've been to Blackwater before and didn't have good memories. Some things never change.

Loved having a view of the river while we enjoyed sipping wine and fabulous food! Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. Walked out on the dock after our meal and enjoyed the peace of nature. Would love to go back and sit on the big front porch, although it does not face the water, it looked like a very relaxing scene.

The restaurant was wonderful and we enjoyed many of the offerings. The service was very good. We were pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. We did get a table at the window which helped make our experience Great. I had first timers with me and they want to come back again.

Passing through the area & trusted Trip Advisor’s reviews which we usually do. (Dislike leaving mediocre reviews.) Stopped for lunch at 1:30 on Wednesday, not very busy (hostess asked if we had reservations) yet service was pretty slow. My bacon wrapped shrimp with BBQ sauce & side of cheddar grits were very good. Hubby’s shrimp & grits with red-eye gravy was Cajun HOT=too hot for him, but flavor was good. Large portions of both. Food good. Service fair.

We were just driving around trying to find off the path places. This is a neat little town and this restaurant takes you back to simpler times. Historic yet clean and healthy upscale options

I would have given this restaurant 5 stars, but the noise level needs to be addressed. We had a table behind us that was so loud we couldn't carry on a conversation amongst ourselves. The food was delicious and the portions big enough to have some leftover for lunch the next day. The view of the river was beautiful too! This restaurant is definitely worth the trip, 45 minutes for us!

Wow. This was my first time here and everything was absolutely delicious! Our server Kelly was amazing too and gave us some great suggestions plus made sure that our appetizers came out at the right time as well as our main courses, so all remained warm and read to enjoy. They have an Early Bird menu so I tried that PLUS 1/2 price appetizers several hours daily. I had the grilled grouper which was fresh and delicious. The crab cakes appetizer was wonderful with mostly crab, not weighed down with too much breadcrumbs like others restaurants do: so far, these have been my favorite crab cakes in the Citrus County area (although they're right outside of our county). I also loved the Crab/Shrimp Rangoon as the cream cheese was third on the list of ingredients with fresh crab/shrimp dominating the dish. Amazing! The barbecue bacon wrapped shrimp were also divine. Too stuffed to make room for dessert but I will one day. A MUST for seafood in this area and I'll try one of their steaks next as the filet Mignon was priced right, as were the other steaks. A win-win here at Blackwater Restaurant. AAAA++++

We have family nearby and have eaten here several times. The food and service is always superb. If it's on the menu, it's good!

It is amazing that this out of the way place, "hidden" in a small community called Yankeetown, had such awesome food. We like it so much that we mentioned it to people as far away as Inverness and Gainesville, and many had heard of this restaurant. The restaurant has a river view and is nestled among "old Florida" scenery. The food was absolutely fantastic. Appetizers are half off in the early evening and the few we tried were excellent. Our meals were filling and tasty. Reservations are needed but if you are going to be anywhere near this place, it is strongly suggested you go. They were not the most COVID safe type place we have been, but it is located in an area of the country were most people have not taken it seriously---but with that exception, for the scenery and food, we recommend without hesitation!

They get an A for our meal today. Service was excellent. Food was the same. We had the calamari and a wedge salad. The calamari was wonderful. Appeared to be hand dipped and not the typical frozen stuff you get at many places. The wedge salad was also great. I think the blue cheese dressing is home made, at least it tasted that way. My wife had the grilled grouper fish of the day which was also very tasty. Their tartar sauce was outstanding and also appears home made. The cole slaw that came with the entree was equally as good as was the Caesar salad. The only disappointing thing was that there is no soup on the menu. Will definitely go back!
