I had a very uncomfortable experience at this Sephora location. The staff spent most of their time standing around in groups, gossiping and staring at customers instead of offering help. It created an unwelcoming and awkward environment, to the point where I felt watched rather than assisted.
If employees are going to stand around talking, the least they could do is acknowledge customers or offer support. Instead, the behavior felt dismissive, unprofessional, and honestly inappropriate for a customer-focused store.
The overall atmosphere felt strange and uncomfortable, and I did not feel respected as a customer. This may also explain why service at this location is consistently slow, there seems to be very little urgency or care for the people actually shopping. I would not recommend supporting this location, as it does not reflect the level of service Sephora is known for. Ulta has better products and makes their customers feel welcomed.

I rushed over to go to this Sephora location to make it by at least 10 mins to 6:00 b/c I knew they were closing at 6:00. I was told at 5:45 that I was not allowed to come in b/c they were closing soon. On the website AND on the door it says closes at 6:00 on Sundays not 5:45. I can understand locking the door a couple minutes before closing time and letting the in store shoppers finish up, but NOT 15 minutes before closing time. I politely asked if I could grab 2 specific items and was rudely told to come back tomorrow at 10:00. Yes, understand the employees want to go home, but this was just a little ridiculous and handled poorly. I have managed retail shops over the years and it has always been policy that employees clean up AFTER closing time or have certain employees start the process and other’s help customers. I am a regular customer at this location and it was very disappointing as well as frustrating.

Booked a 75 minute beauty lesson at this location for my mom’s birthday and it was wonderful! Kay was so kind and had a natural gift of teaching her how to properly do her makeup! Loved every minute of it!! Definitely recommend booking with Kay!!!🩷

Service over the phone at this location is abysmal! I called and asked how limited their supply was on a type of perfume. The check who answered the phone at 2:30pm Dec 13th said she didn't have time to look and tell. Well guess what I wont return to this location. I come in frequently and this was very sad! Guess they dont want my $150 today!

I’m really surprised that this Sephora has some bad reviews. I went Thanksgiving weekend and it was super crowded but yet I was greeted with a smile. I am not well versed with makeup so was completely lost. TYLER patiently helped me with makeup. Loved that she didn’t try to oversell and was recommending exactly what I needed to get without getting overwhelmed. Super knowledgeable.
LARA - helped me with the lipstick, liner and mascara. She showed me the shades, helped me with the shades that would go well with my skin tone. Again, not pushy at all. On a side note, Loved her fun personality.
At the checkout, the associate was helpful while I scrambled with my gift cards, was patient and greeted me with a smile. I asked her name and she said RACHEAL.
My experience was amazing especially given how crowded it was. They were attentive, knowledgable, helpful friendly and super patient. I walked out with a smile. Def returning to this store again!

I’m very disappointed with this location. Most of the times I’ve come in, the staff has been overly persistent—asking every few seconds if I need help, to the point where it feels annoying instead of helpful.
But what really made me write this review was my visit on November 11th. I didn’t know they closed at 8 PM because Maps said 9 PM. I was inside shopping when a blonde older lady came up to me and my friend and said, “Hey we are now closed, so we’re either at the register or at the door.”
Excuse me? That’s not how you speak to customers.
I put my things back and didn’t buy anything for myself. Only my friend purchased something because she really wanted that lipstick, and we specifically asked another employee to check us out with a device just so we didn’t have to deal with the rude lady.
As a Sephora at Kohl’s Beauty Advisor, I can confidently say this is NOT how we treat clients at my store. It was extremely disappointing. She could’ve simply informed us politely that they were closing soon—no attitude needed.
I even told my manager about this and she said she also avoids shopping at this location because of the rude employees.
This wasn’t the first bad experience either. Back when Rhode launched, I picked up a full-size Glazing Milk and went back because I wanted the mini instead. Suddenly a group of kids ran in and an employee made everyone form a line for Rhode. She didn’t even let me speak when I tried to ask if she could hand me the mini. Another (much nicer) employee saw what happened, asked what I needed, and grabbed it for me.
And honestly… they don’t treat everyone the same. But once they see my Beauty Insider points, they suddenly get very nice out of nowhere.
Overall, this store needs serious improvement in customer service. I love Sephora, but this location is consistently disappointing. I give 2 starts because the store is very clean.

I’m very disappointed. This was my first time booking an appointment with Sephora and they canceled it the same day just a few hours before without offering any alternative or solution. It was for a wedding day and this last-minute cancellation caused me a lot of stress. I expected much better service and communication from Sephora.

Not sure what is with the negative reviews but I always have the best experience at this location. The staff is so sweet and helpful here. It’s a really busy location not sure why people don’t understand that sometimes that have to wait for things… They’re always polite and make my experience fun. I only shop at this location because of how great the staff is. Keep it up sephora avalon you are all doing a great job!

The other reviews regarding the poor customer service and dismissive attitude from the staff here are not a coincidence. Today, my fiance came into the store for a simple online pick-up order, hoping for an easy and seamless transaction. Unfortunately, she experienced the exact opposite. After waiting patiently for over 10 minutes in the online order pick-up line, nobody approached her or offered to help even though she noticed multiple employees clearly ignoring her. When she went to the main checkout line she was re-directed to the other line she had been waiting at for over 10 minutes with no help! An associate then proceeded to lie when she saw her manager get involved saying that she did not see my fiance and that she was busy with other customers. This is simply false and a clear attempt to gaslight her way out of a problem she had created instead of taking accountability. It is truly sad to see what this Sephora's location has turned into. If you are thinking of shopping here, please read my review and consider shopping at another location!

The worst Sephora I have ever been to. Seems like if you don’t fit their idea of a consumer demographic they don’t pay attention to you. To begin with no greetings, then no one to be found at online pick up. I was browsing and none of the associates even wanted to make eye contact with me. As I proceeded to the register that lady was also unpleasant. Not friendly at all. Before shoving my receipt in my bag I asked her about my online order. She said “she will let them know.” I waited and waited to finally showing up also no smile of course. Overall a very bad experience.

Today, I purchased several hair products in your store. The cashier barely greeted me, handed me the receipt and stated “you know you need a receipt to make a return”!
Well…I have been the high end luxury industry for over 25years. Sephora, I think it’s time for a good customer experience training. I did not ask about the return policy. This is not the way we should be closing a transaction. I will never go back to your store!

Tom and Rachel were so incredibly kind and made my fiancé & I’s experience a wonderful one! Tom has such a vast knowledge of fragrances and Rachel was so helpful! They were both exceptional!
