The entire staff here are incredibly patient and kind. Our cat kinda freaked out on the vet and he was incredibly calm. Explained to us the issues our cat had in an easy to understand way. The people at the front desk were also knowledgeable and professional.
The giant orange cat wandering around is just a bonus

I’ve visited this clinic a few times with my dog, Xenia, but my recent experience was disappointing and I won’t be returning.
I brought Xenia in because she’s been scratching a lot. I was informed that she has seasonal allergies, which is surprising since she’s never had allergies or skin issues before. I had some questions for Dr. Sidner about her condition and its sudden onset, but he was consistently rude throughout the exam. He dismissed my concerns, and kept shutting me down whenever I asked questions or had comments as if I was wasting his time. His attitude made it seem like he didn't want to be there at all. Given that I paid $300 for this appointment, I at least expect to receive some professional insight regarding my dog’s health without being dismissed. Despite Dr. Sidner mentioning that the allergies were mild and not a big concern, he kept repeatedly trying to upsell me additional medications and shots for other “potential” conditions.
Additionally, I was pressured and harassed into getting Xenia’s yearly rabies shot even though she had them just nearly a year ago. I felt degraded and Dr. Sidner made me feel like a bad owner if I resisted. He even commented that Xenia was now “legal with the county” after receiving her rabies shot, which I found unnecessary and odd. It's interesting that they seemed more concerned on the rabies shot then addressing her seasonal allergies. This experience gave me the impression that the office is not doing well financially and that they constantly need to upsell services to make ends meet.
What’s stopping me from providing a one-star review is the front staff and Dr. Sidner's assistants who are always friendly, helpful and willing to listen. Also, I find it interesting that for every one-star review on their google page, there are several five-star reviews that seem to inflate their overall rating. I hope that Dr. Sidner addresses these issues to benefit his future clients.

Dr. Sidner and his team have taken great care of my Netherland dwarf rabbit. It’s difficult to find competent and educated rabbit-savvy vets and can be stressful as owners knowing our companions are not the standard cat or dog. Multiple times my rabbit has needed care and received top tier, reliable, fast, and fairly priced services. Dr. Sidner educates his patients to provide further care and genuinely cares about our pets. I highly recommend this office to all Athens and surrounding area rabbit owners. (I also imagine his quality of care translates to every other species.).

If you care about the well being of your animals, don’t take them here! They don’t listen to you when you are explaining what is going on and dismiss your concerns. My dog was getting worse by the day. We took her to a new vet and miraculously she is doing so much better!! This office was more concerned about milking me for money for testing rather than taking care of my sweet girl. They got it in their heads that they “knew” what she had and was trying to confirm with testing. She did NOT have it and would have likely died if we didnt do something different. We were already scheduled to see the new vet when Sidner called four days AFTER getting the results to actually call us to let us know. The other vet had already called with the results. He probably just wanted to get more test money out of us. Which if it would have helped we would have gladly paid. We have been patients there for over 12 years and will never be back!! The office manager Christy is hit and miss on the nice scale. You never know what you’ll get with her. She is either super nice or super cold! When we boarded with them they did not make sure my other dog was taking his medications. I could tell when we returned and his symptoms for taking the meds were returning. The compassion and care for taking care of my animals were completely lacking! The only person I will truely miss is Sonia!

My rabbit fell ill over the course of a week and I researched skilled exotic veterinarians to take him to for a second opinion. I made an appointment for him at this office - excited to hear from a vet who has been taking care of rabbits for decades. When we were first seen, I explained to the vet that I wanted some answers as to why he may not be improving in the way that I had hoped. He told me multiple times that I should just take my animal to UGA if I wanted answers, as he primarily does "outpatient things" with rabbits. The vet said he would not draw labs on him or do an ultrasound and I'd need to go to UGA. Our primary exotic vet offered all of these things. It seemed a tad dismissive. Despite this, I'm glad we were able to obtain a second opinion. If your rabbit needs immediate medical attention, I would recommend going elsewhere.

The staff and Doctors Sidner and Barker are wonderful . They have been our vets for at least 25 years or more. All of the front office staff are amazing people. The techa and Doctors could not be more caring even in times of sadness they are all a comfort.

Be AWARE of this vet if you have an exotic bird! Please go to a different vet. I took my bird here trusting that they would give the best care to my bird I loved so much and they put the bird down without my consent..they made its injury worse and took a piece of its beak off then prescribed the bird with medicine then the bird died literally 5 days later.

Everyone from the Vets to the rest of the staff are just always so nice and attentive. My Kobe does not dread going to them at all. Highly Recommend!
