An absolute gem of a store.

I am preemptively stating that I do not want a response from anyone at the store, and, no, I will not reach out about my experience. I can see that the store often responds to negative reviews, and I just don’t want to talk to anyone about it.

Love this place. Local bookstores are vastly important. I’ll be crushed if anything happens to this place. Support them!

Cute little book shop, very child-friendly. I didn't find books I wanted but I love the vibes and the extremely friendly staff.

The owner of this store spoke to me incredibly rudely. She attacked me verbally for approaching her store when she was locking up. Her bookstore was apparently sponsoring an event in a different location. However she gave me the fifth degree and demanded proof that any statement saying she would be open til 9. How thoroughly insulting. Similarly during Covid she spoke extremely ugly to me about picking up books outside. If you wish to be talked down to, this is your store. This is how she treats potential customers innocently walking toward her establishment.

Stopped by this little bookshop on a day trip to Athens and loved it! They have a great selection of books. Shae and Mikey were happy to give recommendations and pull books for me. The book I bought from here was one of the first books that I have read in a long time. I hope to visit again.

Delightfully curated bookshop just off of downtown Athens. Lots of representation of female authors and a wide variety of viewpoints. A lovely space and very kind and helpful staff make for a wonderful place to visit

Very strange experience. First, the store employee (name removed due to request from owner Janet Geddis) was unfriendly when we entered the bookstore. Second, we returned for bags for our books, which was not offered during check-out. While in store, he was closely following us around and finally asked us to leave, as they were only open, so a guy can propose. That customer may have paid for that proposal at the bookstore, but we were also there to spend money. Apparently, the owner knew it too. Surely, there’s a better way for that kind of experience without kicking out customers.Curiously, this is our 2nd experience at an independent bookstore where a white employee treated us differently while there were other customers in the store. It’s a shame that this kind of preferential approach still occurs in 2023. Not surprised to find that most (white) customers here are treated the preferential way and we are glad to see non-white customers who had good experiences. Enter cautiously if you’re non-white. We don’t plan to return.Update: The employee was silent during the interactions at check out. He neither offered a bag nor asked whether we would like a receipt at the time of check-out. We can see why an employee wouldn’t be entirely honest when an owner places complete trust that they wouldn’t make errors. It’s entirely human to make mistakes. We appreciate the amends on part of the owner, and we hope it’s a learning experience for the employee, Luis, and the owner Janet and we wish them the best!

I love this bookstore. I have been in so many times to ask for recommendations for me or my children and every suggestion has been a perfect match. Also fun just to walk in and browse. Such friendly, helpful staff. Love it.

I love Avid bookshop! I occasionally order online from them, and when I'm in the area I am always sure to visit in person. It's such a cute and charming store. They have a wide selection of books and their booksellers are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. They also have some great gift subscriptions--I got one for my in-laws and they loved it. I love a local business that offers great service and a unique, welcoming vibe. Hmmm...maybe I should move to Athens?!
