Excellent care, vets are knowledgable about the most recent research, and the entire practice is transparent about their prices and practices. Good care is easy to find in Athens since there's a vet school, but transparent and ethical practices, well that hasn't been my experience at all of them. I've been using them for over a year now and all of my experiences, from routine care to dietary mishaps to acupuncture for my older dog, have been wonderful.

Just wanted to share my appreciation for Dr. Yash and the staff who have been nothing but kind and professional over the last few months as our older cat became sicker and eventually had to be put down. I won't forget how Dr. Yash went out of her way to take the time to explain everything that was happening and letting us have some last moments with our girl with kindness and compassion.

I recently brought my dog Korra to Hawthorne Animal Hospital and I couldn't be more pleased with the care she received. The doctors were attentive, knowledgeable, and compassionate. The vet techs were wonderful and made Korra feel at ease during her visit. The front office staff were friendly and efficient, making the check-in and check-out process a breeze. Overall, I highly recommend Hawthorne Animal Hospital to anyone in need of veterinary care for their furry friend. Thank you for taking such great care of Korra!

I take our dogs here for our regular yearly exams which is always a great experience, but one of our dogs recently had to have surgery for a fatty tumor and everyone at the clinic made the process so wonderful and easy (despite how stressed I was, even though it was a small surgery for something that wasn't serious lol). They communicated everything clearly throughout the entire process and were great following up after the surgery to make sure my dog was healing well. They put my nerves at ease and I couldn't be more grateful! And most importantly, my dog is happy and healthy :)

My puppy ran out of the yard and got hit by a car directly in front of this animal hospital. He was still breathing and alert. So I rushed him inside begging for help only to get turned away by the receptionist who stated "they dont take emergencies". I had to drive 16 MINUTES to UGA vet clinic on the other side of Athens and my poor baby died in route to the animal hospital. They could have at least tried to help. What is an "animal HOSPITAL" for if not saving animals!!! Im completely disgusted and appalled that they wouldn't even look at my darling little yorkie. Rest in Heaven my Sweet Baby.

Dr. Yash and her staff are all amazing and sweet people. I'm so glad to have found them while living in Athens and would recommend them over anyone else! Short waits for appointments, clean, and professional. They have seen my cats on short notice multiple times.

I have been taking my 2 kitties here for many years now, Hawthorne has always been super kind and helpful. They always have good availability and have been able to see my kitty in a pinch. I call them all the time for smaller concerns and they give me good advice without having to go in! they truly care for your pet!

Best Vet ever!!!!! We have been with Dr. Yash since before she opened Hawthorne Animal Hospital and could not be happier. The staff and doctors are amazing and have seen us through so many good times (and a few bad ones.) They are kind and so accommodating. They are always there to help. Their app is great and I love the rewards!!! We won't trust our pups to anyone else!!!!

We’ve been seeing Dr. Yash for almost 10 years. Our dogs LOVE going to the vet! Everyone there has been so kind & loving towards our dogs. Dr. Yash provides excellent care & careful consideration of what each animal needs, utilizing Western & Eastern holistic approaches. We trust her & know our animals receive the best care with the staff at Hawthorne. Lindsey has been incredibly helpful throughout the years. When your dogs literally pull you, running into the building, you know they love the staff as much as we do! Thank you Hawthorne Animal Hospital!

I am unable and unwilling to write a positive review for Hawthorne as we no longer utilize their services due to our lack of confidence and respect of their services. Frankly I would give less than 1 star if possible. Friendliness and being chatty are no substitutes for sound veterinarian clinical knowledge and expertise. Unfortunately we entrusted the care and monitoring of our English Bulldog's kidney stones issue to Dr. Yash and we carefully followed her treatment plan for kidney stones. Unfortunately our beloved Libby recently passed from advanced canine chronic kidney disease of which was never diagnosed nor treated by Dr. Yash due to what we believe to be her lack of knowledge and understanding of canine chronic kidney disease. Her kidney stones concern was the only kidney topic that was ever discussed with and focused on by Dr. Yash during routine visits,... but NEVER chronic kidney disease as she never mentioned CKD as a major concern topic. Specific follow up blood-work and test results were always listed and stated as being "good" with the obvious negative clinical indicators clearly overlooked. Sadly we discovered the stage of her kidney disease status when we brought her to a vet ER in FL By then she was already in advanced stage 3 and well beyond recovery potential. Additionally, other than one cursory email, we had no subsequent contact or concern from Dr. Yash nor her staff while Libby was in final stages of CKD treatment at UGA (although they were fully aware of her status) and when she ultimately passed prematurely at 7 years, we received NO follow up calls of concern, regret , nor sympathy relative to her passing. We subsequently and quickly chose to no longer utilize Hathorne services due to our lack of trust in their clinical knowledge and clinical competence. Being "friendly and chatty" and having a friendly staff as a veterinary service provider is no substitute for sound clinical competence and knowledge, both of which appears to be lacking at Hawthorne as well as empathy when your beloved pet passes. In short, ask questions and ALWAYS have a clear understanding of test results and potential negative outcomes. Unfortunately we learned much about canine CKD from other numerous other sources (but not from Hawthorne) but too late to save our girl.
