Terrible customer service. They held checks for weeks at a time and lost $300+ in the process. Trying to get ahold of GUCU on the phone is next to impossible, I had to call the line 10 times before I could figure out the correct codes to be allowed to talk to someone. Tellers are oddly rude and consistently unprofessional. I had hoped they would be a reliable credit union but I will be leaving this following week. Join at your own risk.

The new set up with virtual tellers sucks. I have been with them for years but I’m thinking about switching to another bank with human customer service and drive through tellers. Human customer service matters and we don’t want to deal with this.

Overall great experience with this branch and the corporate office. Everyone we spoke with was friendly and quick to respond to questions.

Do you want a human teller to handle your deposits? No more indoor or drive through teller's. I was shocked when i saw the huge change. Find another finance company if want a teller and not a machine to do the job. It used to be great, now they are not good. The world has to come to technology running everything. I would rather a real person over a ATM machine to do my transaction.

Absolutely the worst credit union! Remodeled the lobby, and in the process got rid of the customer service counter! Forcing people to use ATMs! Stop blaming Covid, it's a pathetic excuse at this point! Unbelievable ? What part of adding ATMs is absolutely useless, when you don't deal with the public directly! Garbage is what you get when you refuse to have real people to deal with!

No more driving through and indoor tellers. All machines now. Very inconvenient. Also the machine doesn't give you time to load bills before it wants to take your fingers, so watch out. Ouch.

First of all you should know that this location is under MAJOR renovations! It looks like a bomb exploded in the whole building. It is dark and dusty! The employees are slow and lazy! I went in there to close my mothers account. She passed away last year and there is only $36 left in it. There were four people waiting and only one account manager available. I just left because I wasn't going to wait! I am thinking of closing all of our accounts there as well!

If you want your money invested into some place safe, STAY AWAY from them.Poor communication, staff has absolutely no idea what they are doing.NEVER EVER EVER again will I not go with my gut. We had a weird feeling about this place before we went.Please listen to what people say and LOOK at reviews. I went against the reviews anyway and paid the price. Waste of my time and money.

Awful, awful, awful customer service. They have no idea what they are doing, and their account system is messed up and will randomly take money out of the incorrect account.

Do not bank here if you expect or need convenience.GUCU used to have two Athens locations: one in Five Points to service the west side/UGA communities, and one on the East Side to service that area of the city. Now Georgia United only has the East Side location, with no other ATM options in this area outside of the East Side location.Today, I had to make a cash deposit, so I drove from the west side to Gaines School Road only to find that their ATM was not accepting cash deposits -- or even dispensing cash. This meant that I wasted almost an hour of my day because Georgia United cannot maintain a functional ATM. I was not the only person inconvenienced by this as several cars ahead of me in line drove up to the ATM and then quickly drove away.This non-functional ATM is not an isolated experience with Georgia United. They also do not have any customer service available on the weekend, only a messenger service.As a bank, Georgia United is no better or worse than any other, but in a bizarre way to run a customer-focused service, it is completely unreliable outside of their normal hours.

Georgia United Credit Union needs to seriously consider the past several, recent reviews and the one stars. The customer service of this bank has failed. Do not blame COVID. I saw other banks open and serving customers while GUCU hid behind excuses - COVID and an Up-grade. All the online up-grades mean nothing when you close one of the only two branches in Athens!

Hate this place. Unprofessional, slow, and just hate it all around. Waited 3 months for a dispute just to reverse is 3 months later. Hate this place with a passion. Want to take my business else where.
