I was there just after opening and bought keys, a level, thermostat etc and spent around four hundred dollars. The young man who kind of fetched all but the thermostat did not seem very cheerful about helping an old lady with a rod in her leg and three bad disks finish her list of items, but when I was in my twenties I wasn't at my best in the morning either. Love Ace hardware, sorry you don't live your job Sonny.

Needed some supplies when I was in the Westside and this store was super convenient and had a good selection of nuts and bolts and also fun stuff to buy for the home. Always like Ace for the customer service too. You pay more but better experience

Whenever I travel around, I always make a point to stop into a small local hardware store. You get the vibe of the neighborhood and the surrounding community the moment you walk in.
Bates Ace Hardware is a charming and lovely hardware store at the corner of Howell Mill Road Defoors Ferry.
Bates is a family owned community store that carries a wide variety of items and has a distinctive nostalgic atmosphere. Bates is known for their knowledgeable staff who have a deep expertise in the products they sell and the store for its unique layout.
If I lived in the neighborhood, I’d consider this my early Saturday morning home just to check on what’s going on in the community.
Not only will you find inside the store the maze of well stocked aisles and shelves reflecting wide variety of items. You will find something you don’t see any other place, and that’s some cheerful, friendly help.

it was my first time here looking for a hammer and i started being followed around by one person. it did feel very profiling because i was the only one being followed around from what i seen. and every turn i was taking on purpose to make sure i wasn’t tripping, i was still followed. i understand wanting to make sure nobody is stealing. but there’s a way to that without stalking on customers like that. mind you, i look like everyone else here and live around here, difference only being black. anyways not the best experience but it’s alright.

I had a really good experience here. I came in looking for a specific paint. According to their website this store had it but the associate helping me and I couldn't find it anywhere. The associate went to the store's computer with another co-worker and they were able to locate it and gave me some helpful heads up about how to use that particular type of paint. Everyone was really pleasant and helpful and friendly too!

Long live the neighborhood hardware store. I love coming here and since it's almost always out of necessity the important thing is I love that I CAN come here and get plaster/propane/scrapers/bolts/trowels/saw blades/shims and those things you put under heavy appliances to make them slide like they're on glass- all in one place without going to a 20 acre box store, just for like one bag of mulch or one tube of caulk. Staff is delightful and knowledgeable. I love that there's a whole section of neat things I'll never need- Big Green Egg, panama hats... I always leave with a whimsical bottle of soda I've never seen for my GF who loves such things. A+

Every time I walk into Ace Hardware at least one person, sometimes two greet and welcome me to the store, followed by asking if I need any assistance finding what I need. Love this store!

I just went into the store to purchase paint for my classroom and I was watched the whole time by a white woman. Racial profiling. I will never come into this store again!
