I was getting an oil change down the road and decided to stop by to buy an umbrella since it was raining outside. It was around 10:30 when I bought the umbrella and the mall did not open until 11. I decided to walk around the store until 11 so I could walk around the rest of the mall. 11 came around and a made my way to the mall only to be stopped by security 30 minutes later only to be approached by mall security telling me I needed to return the umbrella I had stolen to Macy's. There was no question whether I had purchased the umbrella or anything. I showed the security officer my receipt and asked her if she thought it was okay to just go up to customers and accuse them of stealing. I got no response from her.
I returned to Macy's to return the umbrella and get my money back. I complained to the manager that I was being accused of stealing a $9 dollar umbrella and got no real resolution.
It's no wonder the whole mall is dying. What little business they do get, they drive away with their customer service. They need to just go ahead and shut it down if they're so adamant about not wanting customers
