Bo in the shoe department was a wealth of knowledge and helped me find the perfect pair of trail shoes today. She also helped my boyfriend find some boots and turned us on to becoming REI members! We will definitely be shopping at REI more now that we are members and get that 10% back at the end of the year!

They were so nice here! I didn’t get the name of the person I talked to but coming in was such a positive experience, they answered all the extra questions I had and gave me some advice on the best place to find ski equipment. One of the best retail experiences I’ve had in a while

I’ve been shopping REISince moving to Atlanta 12 years ago. I love the one near Buford Highway, but never had the opportunity to shop this store. It looks the same and is well stocked but I had a fairly negative experience with the folks working here.I currently hike an Osprey Aether 65 which I bought from them 5-6 years ago. I’m ready to get a lighter pack and am thinking of a Hyperlight brand bag. I was hoping to load one up with some weight and walk around a bit. When I went into the pack area a man was standing at the table playing on hood phone. I looked around for a few minutes and turned to ask him a question, he was gone. I waited for him 10 or so minutes with no return and no luck with anyone else. I went shopping in another part of the store and came back 10-15 minutes later. A lady was there talking with a couple about LNT hiking. I got her eye and said I have a question but can wait. She continued chatting for 5 minutes about non gear related stuff. A woman walks up up interiors the conversation and asks for help. She walks off with her and never comes back. I got frustrated and just left. I’ll buy one from another company and just hope I like it.

Went there to buy some Hokas and it was a very nice experience. Zack helped me out trying on the shoes and made sure I got the right size. He also told me about the discounts and benefits of being a member. Signing up to be a member already paid for itself with 1 purchase. The people that work here are not your typical retail employees, they know their stuff and it shows.

REI let me down. Long time 30+ year customer had an old duffel where the zipper broke. It’s probably 10+ years and I’ve used it every year or two for trip. Not only did they say they only warranty for 1 year (pretty funny for outdoor gear) but that that zippers just wear out and I should replace the duffel. They didn’t have any way to repair and didn’t know any nearby shops that repaired. That’s really irresponsible and I expected them to do more for climate change than to throw away a perfectly good duffel because the zipper doesn’t work. Of course buying a new duffel makes more money for them. One star is for this location for their management who didn’t know about bag warranties and suggested I call each manufacturer and ask them if their warranty covered zippers because he wasn’t able to memorize every manufacturer. Even though I only asked about Patagonia and NorthFace.Of course, I just ended up reading their tag and learning that they do cover zippers, even on 10 year old bags. Which makes sense as the duffels are pretty expensive ($200 for Patagonia, $140 for NF compared to $60 for REI).Seems like stores should have staff who are willing to learn the products they carry, or at least be willing to read the tags and help customers shop, or at least not tell them to call companies instead of more efficient research.Decades long co-op member now looking for a new retailer and manufacturer who makes good equipment and trains their staff.

More of a personal problem but I didn't know my size men's 10 1/2 in a variety of popular shoes and colors was so rare. On three separate occasions over the last three years - for three different shoes - this REI did not have my size. So, I give up trying to do it the "old-fashioned way." I ordered the shoes online through the manufacturer's site, not REI's site.

Awful.I was looking for a hiking boot. The lady who attended on me claimed she was helping customers in turn which is fine. But, when we discussed what I needed, she talked toSomeone else and started helping them and got their shoes! When I reminded her 5 min later, she said she would go look. Neither was she knowledgeable nor helpful ?Subsequently, a gentleman showed up and not only was he knowledgeable but also very helpful. Why do people who have no motivation to help work at REI? I understand there could be a need to work, but when one does shouldn’t they show motivation.

Today I was in the store shopping getting ready to leave and I saw one of the managers walk up to one of the floor associates. I was standing pretty close and could hear the whole interaction. The manager spent about 3 minutes giving the team member an incredibly heartfelt and genuine display of appreciation for his efforts and work ethic and handed him a gift card! I was standing a couple feet away and just watched a huge smile come across the kids face. I decided to stay just a little longer to watch because I thought it was pretty cool to see and that smile didn’t leave his face for at least five minutes after the interaction. Love getting to watch managers appreciate their staff and definitely makes you feel good about going to this business! Great job!

Had a great experience at REI last night... much thanks to the most helpful and knowledgeable Carolyn! She was informative, thoughtful and went the extra mile to help me find what I needed. I missed my cashier's name but she was also excellent at her job as well. Thanks!!

I came in wanting to see some hiking shoes in person before I made a decision on which to get. Carolyn was very knowledgeable and assisted me in trying on several models in various sizes. She was really patient and answered all of my questions, while also helping the other customers. She even lent me a pair of hiking socks to make sure I got an accurate fit since I forgot to bring some. With her help, I was able to narrow down which shoes were my favorites. All of the other associates in the store were also really friendly, and is definitely my new favorite REI location that I’ll be coming back to. Thank you so much for your patience and excellent customer service Carolyn!!

Great service every time I come to this location. One of the larger REI stores in the Atlanta metro area with a great selection and friendly helpful employees.

I had an excellent experience in store. I went in looking for hiking boots for vacation. The gentleman with glasses provided excellent customer service to me and other customers (at the same time). He was very knowledgeable about each shoe and offered various options based on my feedback and preferences. He had to bring out shoes 3 times and didn’t seem bothered in the least. He also provided options for socks to prevent blisters. I am officially a REI raving fan and soon to be member. This place is my new retail therapy playground. Thank you very much Mr. REI guy (I can’t recall his name), you were great!
