I had not taken my cat to the vet since relocating to Atlanta. He was very crotchety and hated the vet, and it hadn't been a priority to find someone for him yet. Until I woke up this morning, and he was having trouble walking. He had been failing the last few months (he was a big 17 year old cat, so very old in cat years), but this morning, it was time. I called the vet, and they immediately talked me through cost and options as well as offering to allow me to come in when I was ready or to schedule an appointment. It's never fun to put an animal to sleep, but the staff at VCA Midtown were so kind to me and my poor sweet baby, treating him gently and offering me the time and information I needed. For a terrible experience, they made it as good as they could, and they were very transparent about how the process worked which made it easier.

made wait an hour and lied to me claiming that the law requires heartworm testing, when in fact the only law required vaccination is rabies. Of course i keep my dog on heart prevention, but they want to charge $210 for a dose

Amazing animal hospital! Dr. Maness & Dr. Seidman are incredible vets. Dr. Maness saved our sweet Golden Retriever's life and diagnosed her correctly after an incorrect diagnosis at a local vet to us. They both sat down on the ground with us as we comforted our dog and kindly explain care plans. We searched for a vet that was open on Sundays and are so grateful we found this location because they treated us with so much care. Crystal & Gary were so kind on the phone and in person every time we came in to visit our baby in the hospital. They were there for us on the hardest week of our lives and I'm so grateful for their kindness and work ethic.

I can’t express how grateful I am for all the staff at VCA Midtown. When my Kitten had to get a foreign body removed, I was scrambling to find a place that could hospitalize him at a price I could afford. The techs and Dr. Davis welcomed me and my kitten, Ziggy, with open arms. Everyone was so incredibly kind and took such great care of Ziggy while he was there. I am forever grateful to the whole team here and will definitely bring my pets here if we have another emergency in the future! You all are stellar and I can’t thank you all enough!Much love from your fellow vet assistant, and also from the string eater himself, Ziggy Stardust <3

I brought my dog after she had suddenly shown signs of pain in her rear leg and wasn't walking without a lot of prompting. Dr. Benfield was absolutely wonderful. She (and the tech) took their time with my pup to make she sure was comfortable but could still properly diagnose the issue! I was very happy with the way Dr. B explained everything she was doing and was quick to share her thoughts of possible issues. Everyone was up front about charges and there weren't any surprises at checkout. I had a very good experience here.

I cannot express how much we appreciate Dr. Benfield. She is so incredible at her job and has been a godsend for us on at least 4 occasions with our two senior dogs Honey and Leo.We have never had a better vet experience than we have with her. She remembers our dogs every time and cares about their wellbeing. She calls to check in days later and remembers months after what had been going on.I could go on and on about Dr. Benfield and want her to know how thankful we are for her. She has found her calling as a vet and we are so glad she is here to take care of our dogs and the other animals that come in for her care.

Missed cat diabetes diagnosis -- went to this vet as my cat was peeing outside of the box, very strange behavior.VCA did not mention anything about cat's glucose being high in urinalysis despite us having questions specifically around that. Peeing outside of the box kept happening and then additional weight loss. This delayed the diagnosis by 6 months as we eventually got our cat to another vet.AVOID AVOID AVOID

We have always had a wonderful experiences at this vet with all of our pets over the last eight years. One thing in particular that I want to mention is, they are happy to give you advice or a recommendation over the phone, where as every other vet wants you to come in for an office visit for even the simplest question/concern that in no way constitutes an office visit. We will continue coming to this location for all of our veterinary needs.

I've been here more times than I can count since adopting my kitty 2 years ago. Eye+Ear Infections, Breathing+Skin Issues. I've seen 5 vets. The care and follow up good, (sometim es you might need to call them, but that's true with other vets, too). Responsive to email. A few excellent front desk people (and a few newbies in training who don't always last-staffing issues like any business). I've seen a front desk person rush out to the parking lot and personally carry a huge dog in crisis to the emergency room. If you are willing to see different vets, they can usually get you in within a few days, and if you cannot wait, you can come in without an appointment but the fee is about $50 more. Other vets I've used generally don't have openings for 1.5 weeks +. Open until 10pm (!) and Sat/Sun. This is rare and appreciated, esp. for those of us whose pets always seem to get ill on the weekend. They are absolutely the most flexible option out there! Con would be that they are pricier than other vets I've seen (but given the flexibility and availability, worth it). They have a Pet Plan for $90 a month that includes free check-up/booked visits (not emergency) and yearly physical. Again, not for everyone, but great for pets with chronic issues. They will give you detailed pricing before any procedures. You can accept or not, seek a second opinion, go home and decide. It's not unusual for vets to recommend diagnostics for our pets who can't tell us what's going on exactly. I understand that medical care for a pet is just as frustrating and confusing as it is for humans, but I think VCA does a great job, especially if your pet needs frequent care. They are also always nice about my terrified-of-the-vet kitty, who is not at all nice to them. Also note, they may call you at 8pm, because their end of the day is not 5pm. I go to another vet who is a cat specialist, but it's really hard to see her in less than 2-3 weeks, so VCA is usually my go to, and I'm happy with them. I think some of these low reviews represent outliers (or frustration) rather than the standard care they provide.

Scammers. The people here act extremely dense and literally charge $180 just to get you in the door and then suggest treatments upwards of 2k without even trying to figure out what's wrong.

Terrible place, unprofessional and incompetent. Used to go here for vet services and to board my dog. Dropped him off before I left for a 9 day trip, let them know he was almost out of his usual meds. They promised they'd refill. When I returned they had not refilled them and had not bothered to call me when the meds I left had run out, they just left him unmedicated for 6 days. He could barely walk when I picked him up. Imagine that -- he's literally staying at the very place that he gets his medicine from, but they left him untreated and didn't even notice he lost his ability to walk. We decided never to use this place again for anything. He got sick over the recent holiday and this was the only place available for emergency treatment. My heart sunk when I heard he'd be coming here again. The cost was outrageous, far more than Blue Pearl charges. He died within the week and today they sent me an additional charge (by text at 8:30am!) for medication he was never given, supposedly ordered 4 days after he died. Got some mealy-mouthed "oh it's just something we always do" explanation. Charging people for medication they haven't been given is something they always do, apparently.

This place gives all VCAs a bad name. They continuously push medication and "recommended diagnosis" without rationale/explanation like they're car salesmen working on commission. The vet tech throws remarks such as "Frontline is not good, you should try this", but is unable to explain further why or how. All the other negative reviews are spot on when they point out that they ignore symptoms explicitly noted by the owners and instead continue to ask for more money by pushing products and additional appointments.
