Had similar issues with this guy on a rebuild. Hand pressurized my radiator and coolant leaked from behind the timing cover. I purchased a new timing cover and water pump from Summit Racing and installed myself and presto no more leak. And like another reviewer stated he did not tell me the cost of the rebuild until the day he wanted payment. And trust me I asked because I would have gone the Jasper route. $4500 price tag for Ford 460 rebuild.

Im writing this review in hope that this shop will read this and I hope they will do ANYTHING to remedy this situation.
I took my truck to HWY 27 automotive because my 454 blew the motor. He told me he was going to send my truck here to Engine Works for a complete bottom to top rebuild. I was told the ENTIRE internal part of the engine would be NEW and the block would be original. I paid them almost $6,000 (trust me I know this is EXPENSIVE) but the truck is the ONLY thing my dad left me and it has extreme sentimental value and I wasn't local and I was unable to make any other accommodations at the time. Fast forward almost 3 years and when I FINALLY received the truck back. The motor was built will old reused parts and re manufactured parts. It breaks my heart that my dad won't get to see this truck done and it upsets me to my core to know that I paid GOOD money to this shop and they have the nerve to SCAM me.
I've reached out to this shop several times and he's told me he doesnt remember my truck even though I have a receipt (with no part numbers or descriptions of what I ACTUALLY paid for) with ENGINE WORKS at the top of it. Since then he's blocked my number and will not return my calls. Im leaving this here begging this shop to do wahts right and do what I paid you for. If not I hope other people read this and take your buisness ANYWHERE but ENGINE WORKS or a place called HWY 27 automotive.
I am in contact with lawyers as well. Please find it in your heart to do what's right before this has to go any further.

BAD BUSINESS!!!
Had an engine rebuilt by Tony in 2023. Got the runaround about price up until the day it was finally completed. $3000 have the engine cleaned bored and reassembled. I wasn’t happy with the price or the fact that he would only accept cash payments. I had no other options at the time and paid up. While loading it into my truck Tony noticed an oil galley plug missing above the rear main and installed it on the spot. (The first indication I should verify the parts I supplied were installed properly.)Upon receiving the engine I discovered multiple loose bolts on the water pump and timing chain cover. I tightened them to spec and installed the engine and filled it with fluids. I had to pull the engine back out of vehicle because antifreeze was leaking from every freeze plug except one. Come to find out it was one he never even replaced and another I assume was knocked in too far while it was being removed and he just left it there! I’ve included photos of a few of the loose bolts, leaks and the freeze plugs I had to buy and replace yet again. The engines only supposed to have 5 the two steel plugs are oem. One of which is the plug that wasn’t replaced the other was the plug he knocked into the engine.

Tony is the ower. He does real good work. I had a 1968 Mexican 302 block in his shop and it looked almost like new when I got it back. I'm definitely happy and I definitely recommend this place as one of the best machinest shop.
