If I could rate more than 5 stars, I would have already. Elizabeth and & her partner helped me find more information on a mare I bought that they previously listed. They gave such an in-depth history on this mare, I felt like I'd known her all her life. They also gave me some phenomenal advice and tips for feeding, deworming, and bringing a rescued horse back to full health. I'm so grateful they were able to help me so much. Just all around absolutely lovely people - I highly recommend them!

I am apologetically late in posting for Bits & Bytes Farm. I contacted Elizabeth for help in looking for a Thoroughbred in January 2019. She invited me for a visit and I found it to be an incredible experience. The horses at Bits & Bytes are so well taken care of in so many ways- they are healthy, fit, trained and beautiful. It is obvious that there is so much expertise and support involved. Elizabeth helped me to find Painted Black (Bella) a 12yr old black mare. She helped me to arrange transport and Bella traveled from Tucson, AZ to Alpharetta, GA and arrived March 1st. I bought her with pictures, a facetime Vet check and lots of phone calls with her owner. I openly admit that I was a little apprehensive, but it was the absolute best decision EVER! My beautiful Bella is pure joy!We have spent the last 6 months adjusting and growing- so I went back to Bits & Bytes for a lesson in nutrition. Wow! Elizabeth spent an entire morning showing me feed and supplements while carefully describing each nutrient and its purpose. Every time I visit or need help I have an amazing experience with everyone at Bits & Bytes!I would also like to share- that every time I visit I am inspired to take my horsemanship to the next level. I love my Bella and I have had an incredible experience with Bits & Bytes Farm. Thank you Elizabeth!Michelle and Bella (Painted Black)

I have hemorrhaged financially and emotionally by trusting this process. Buyer beware. In September 2017 I purchased my first horse from Elizabeth Wood at Bits & Byes Farm and this experience turned unfavorable quickly. I was skeptical of buying a horse sight unseen from the track but was assured by all the success stories and meeting Elizabeth prior to the sale. I loved that Bits & Bytes advertised that “each horse’s history and health records are considered before we offer them for sale”. The premium priced sport horse prospect I purchased was advertised as “blemish and vice free and is believed to be retiring sound”. He was neither blemish free or sound as it turned out, but was vice free and had a lovely disposition.I was provided a vet contact to perform the pre-purchase exam from her partner at the track. His intended use was eventing/hunters with the ability to jump 3 feet. He tested sound on all 4 limbs for the flexion test so I moved forward with the purchase. In less than 60 days, my horse experienced lameness issues that increased in both frequency and severity. My vet re-evaluated him, performed a lameness exam including flexion test and x-rayed his legs and feet. This confirmed significant lameness identified as “changes consistent with arthritis” and “will most likely have a significant impact on the longevity of his athletic career”. These results within 60 days of the PPE are a shocking contrast. I have ample documentation of the misrepresentation of his condition. I received no response from the vet that completed the PPE at the track. As a first time horse buyer, I relied heavily on the information provided by Bits & Bytes and their contacts. Elizabeth refused to have the horse returned and my substantial purchase price refunded, or offer any kind of price adjustment as I suggested to reflect the uncertainty of his true condition and potential. She only offered to list my chronically LAME horse for sale. In fact, she would not even provide an explanation as to how something like this could occur with all the assurances on Bits & Bytes website about taking the gamble out of buying a TB sight unseen by considering “each horse’s history and health records”.In December, he suffered a left dorsal displacement and surgery was recommended to close the space. The vet could not make him stable enough to transport to the hospital and I had no choice but to humanely euthanize this young, beautiful and sweet gelding. In the 1 ½ years I have been riding at the farm where he was boarded, not 1 horse has suffered from colic. The vet confirmed the blood work and evaluation did not suggest any diet or hydration issues.

I have been in the horse world for decades and if someone had told me that I would buy a horse sight unseen from someone I never met I would have told them they no way. Elizabeth"s knowledge, dedication and honesty made for a enjoyable experience. So glade I made that phone call for now I have a truly wonderful horse. Elizabeth will be the first call when I need another horse.

Inquired about a horse and the person was extremely rude. Apparently the horse doesn't "Really need a home by Monday". I asked for a price through message and was told to call. I explained I was at work and her response was "To bad" and to go "Take a bathroom break if I was really interested".... Great communication and obviously really wants to find the horse a home lol. Would not recommend! MAYBE YOU SHOULD PUT IN YOUR ADS DO NOT MESSAGE AND A ACTUAL PRICE if you are so easily aggravated by people asking questions.

I'm an equine professional and have bought a lot of horses for myself and my students through the years. As anyone involved in the horse buying process knows, it can be the wild west out there, so trusting people can be a huge hurdle. I called Elizabeth asking about her horses and her process, and I was immediately put at ease. I felt as if I'd met a kindred spirit in the horse world. She is straight-forward, knowledgeable and honest. We have worked together closely and she has been very generous with her time and expertise. She truly has the horse's best interest at heart and is careful to properly match the right horse and rider. Don't hesitate to give her a call if you are looking for your next partner in equine life.

This review is delayed by several months, but better than never. I've long appreciated Elizabeth's eye for Thoroughbreds, and when I recently found myself looking for a trainer Elizabeth came to mind. Between the wonderful Thoroughbreds in her barn, the welcoming company and excellent instruction, I felt as if I'd been riding with Elizabeth for years. While currently not living in Georgia, the days at Elizabeth's farm were exactly what I was looking for and I look forward to returning!

I have been associated with Bits & Bytes for many years now, initially as a "friend of the farm", I helped with farm chores in exchange for riding, and then finally bought my OTTB in 2011 and became a boarder. I have loved being a part of this place and have learned so much from Barry and Elizabeth! They have a wealth of knowledge about horses and their care, and specialize in OTTBs. A few come to the farm to be retrained as riding horses, and many are sold directly to their new owner after being referred to Bits & Bytes by their trainers or owners as suitable and healthy for retraining. They do not handle "rescue" cases, only ones that are healthy enough for a new career. I don't know of anyone who could possibly care more about horses, both their own and their boarders' horses, or give them higher quality or more personalized care. Elizabeth has studied and taken courses in equine nutrition and only feeds the highest quality grain and supplements, tailored specifically for each horses needs. The farm is beautiful with large pastures for turnout and spacious stalls, an arena, as well as a network of trails in back for riding and jumping logs. I definitely give it a 5 !!

I contacted Bits & Bytes Farm, on a bit of a whim. My home kept horse was lonely, and they had a horse for sale that favored the one I had recently lost to cancer. Elizabeth spoke with me at length, and said she wasn't sure the horse, I had called about, was what I was looking for. I set up an appointment to meet him and few others at the farm. I met and rode several fantastic horses, but none of them seemed to be "IT". Elizabeth was patient with me. It took a little time, but we found my horse. I think she knew before I did. She let me hop on, for his first ride, at the farm. After about 10 minutes, I told her the he was THE HORSE. She encouraged me to think about it, and not rush into a decision. A few days and a PPE later, I was the proud owner of Popular Five "Bo".I kept him at Bits & Bytes for a few months, before taking him home. It had been about 15 years, since I started one off the track, and I was glad to have the support of someone who regularly worked with OTTBs. As someone who has had multiple back surgeries, it was nice having the input to avoid potential problems, rather than fumble through the trial and error process, like I did when I was younger.Bo has been a wonderful addition to our family! He's a big goofball who loves attention. He's a joy to ride and an absolute love. I won't hesitate to purchase from Bits & Bytes Farm again.

It's kind of fun to say to people "I'm a thoroughbred owner". The typical reaction is usually one of being impressed and of not knowing how to react.I quickly dispel the awed feeling by explaining that all of my TBs are ones that they've never heard of because they just weren't great racehorses. They are, however, phenomenal horses to adopt and retrain for whatever your chosen horse activity is. Over the last 13 years I have taken in or helped friends take in 12 such TBS, all of which I have gotten with the help of Elizabeth and Barry at Bitsnbytes Farm.Quite a while before the current emphasis on placing OTTBS into other careers took off, Elizabeth saw a need and felt compelled to try to find homes for as many horses as she could. Having contacts with trainers and owners at various racetracks, she knows the background of the horses and what kind of care they have had. She spends a lot of time trying to match the horses with potential owners and will let buyers know if she thinks the situation will be good or if they should wait for a different horse.Though each is an individual, every one of the beautiful TBs that have come my way through Bitsnbytes has been a treasure. I would encourage anyone who is thinking about getting an OTTB to give Elizabeth a call and she if there is a match for you!
