“For the most part a nice facility. Without exception, the staff is courteous and friendly and addresses any issues brought to them in a timely manner. That's the reason for 4 stars. They lose a star on cleanliness (memebers). The workout room and rubberized mats are always dirty, but they do mop nightly. Wear black if you do a floor workout on the rubber pad - I can't figure out how to clean that - it's like a porus mud sponge. The staff is knowledgeable beyond what you might expect at most gyms, and competent within the realm of their experience. They like to sell their added services, but the knowledge in these areas seems limited to education by the sales reps. I had one staff member assert that the evolt 360 was more accurate than any other method of body composition assessment compared to volumetric assessment or any other machine out there - but seemed unaware that sensor sensitivity, CPU processing power, and transient user effects such as level of hydration, skin oils, full or empty bladder/belly create as much as a 15% variability in accuracy rendering all such skin impedance devices empirically comparable vs the present gold standard, DEXA scan. (Volumetric determination of total body density is WAAAAY out of date.) Then again, who can afford to pay for a $1000 scan on a regular basis? If you can't afford a $200 Samsung Galaxy 5 watch pro, the Evolt 360 might be of use to you. Either way, user error is the major hurdle, and the EVOLT people probably train the trainers here to measure on an empty bladder with no skin lotions or oils, before workout and on an empty stomach, as well as how to grip and comparable time of day for measurement - so much of the training curve on skin impedance is handled for the user. What don't I like about this? They bundle the Evolt into your membership now, as well as their trainer services (sic sales secessions). So, you have to pay for it whether you want it or not. Fortunately, my insurance covers my membership so I don't feel the pain. My daughter, however, is seeing a $15/month annual increase in cost compared to the price the previous manager quoted her for her annual membership. That seemed like a bait and switch tactic to me, as none of the additional \"value added\" services are of use to the daughter of a Physical Therapist with more than 25 years in the field! Still, we like our Yoga instructor and how close the facility is to our home. I just wish they had honored their word. Not doing so seems, well, less than honorable. That's something I'll bring up with corporate. Planet fitness is as low as $16/month, but is 20 min away. The Gym is $45 down plus $20 bi-weekly. Anytime Fitness offered a comparable price to the Gym, even with the value added services, and has more machines but fewer free weights. And sales based, though they are, the staff are sales rep trained staff and available to help you at Anytime Fitness, should you need it. Play it safe and google Athletic training + (your workout question) before you take their advice and integrate it into your workout though. (*I'm not a huge fan of some of the ballistic training they offer, having seen many patients for issues caused by these training methods over the decades. Nor am I a fan of accepting the research provided by a company selling a product, rather than independent verifiable research.) Their Yoga instructor though, can help observe and guide you into proper position because she practices daily. Even with the mirrors, it can be hard to see when you don't have a pose quite right, and her observations help you correct your posture with kindness and without pressure to strain beyond your limits. Their spin class is highly sought after, as well. It must be effective, you can see their salt stains on the floor when you go to yoga the next day! If you use the floor, treat it like any workout device, wash your area before and after you use it - to be courteous to the next user. It's not really reasonable to expec”
