We adopted our pup in March of 2023 from her previous owner. We were warned that she was fence reactive and she had never been on leash before. We quickly realized we needed help when she constantly pulled while on leash, was very reactive to other animals while on leash, and had a very strong and high prey drive. We started the on-leash training with Carolyn at The Developing Canine Behavior and Training in May of 2023. With such great success with the on-leash training we moved to the off-leash training in August of 2023. She has blossomed into a confident and well mannered pup. She listens extremely well and is more neutral than reactive. We continue to work with our pup daily as it is a work in progress. We couldn't have gotten where we are now with out Carolyn's guidance and expertise! She always answer questions that come up even after our sessions were over. She offers group dog walks that have been instrumental with training. We cannot thank Carolyn enough for her care, direction, and knowledge. We cannot recommend her enough! 100/10!!*P.S. I have included a couple of pictures of our pup listening to commands in high-stress areas.

Carolyn completely transformed my dog! She listens so much better, is much more behaved, and walking her is no longer a chore (it's actually fun, for BOTH of us!!!)!! Highly recommend using carolyn for dog training!

I can't imagine life without having worked with Carolyn to train my dog, Ollie. She helped make sure Ollie was well behaved both on leash and off. We started with a series of weekly Zoom meetings to practice leash skills before moving to in-person classes to practice off-leash skills. Carolyn would leave us with things to practice during the week and followup with an article that provided extra information in writing. Then the next week, we'd demonstrate how well the new skills were coming, she'd offer feedback, and then we'd move on to the next body of skills. By the end of the classes, I felt comfortable taking Ollie to the park for hikes or the beach for walks. I lean on her training and email advice when tackling new skills like heeling alongside the bike. And to say one more thing: she is developing a very strong community of well behaved off leash dogs that meet regularly for group walks and dog to dog socializing. I never imagined this is the training or community I would leave with when engaging Carolyn for training. I simply wanted a dog that wouldn't jump on visitors, now I have a dog that I can confidently take on trips and out to lunch. I'm forever grateful!

I met Carolyn nearly 12 years ago when looking for a dog trainer. I feel very fortunate to have found a trainer that is professional, extremely knowledgeable, and genuine. Carolyn has trained both of our dogs which has brought us many years of joy with our four legged friends. To this day she stays in contact with her clients and is always available if we have a need.

I think that deciding to go to the Developing Canine was one of the best decisions I made regarding my dog. I recommend Carolyn all the time to others. I receive compliments all the time about how incredibly well behaved my dog is and it is true, she is a joy. Totally satisfied!!

The Developing Canine is an outstanding dog training facility, and I couldn't be more pleased with the results I achieved with my Australian shepherd. Carolyn, the owner and head trainer, is a true dog whisperer who seems to have an innate understanding of how dogs think and communicate.From the moment we walked in the door, Carolyn made us feel welcome and at ease. She took the time to get to know my dog and me, and she quickly developed a personalized training plan that took into account my dog's unique needs and personality. She also factored in the fact that I am a first time dog owner. I could see how great she was when I noticed how well trained her dog - back then - sunshine was.Throughout our training sessions, Carolyn was patient, kind, and encouraging. She used positive reinforcement techniques to teach my dog new behaviors and skills, and she was always willing to answer any questions I had and provide me with helpful tips and advice.Thanks to Carolyn's expert guidance and instruction, my dog made significant progress in a short amount of time. He is now more obedient, well-behaved, and responsive to my commands than ever before. I would highly recommend The Developing Canine to anyone looking for top-notch dog training services. Carolyn is truly a master of her craft!

Carolyn has been just wonderful with me and my pup, Aubrey. She helped me understand how to communicate better and understand Aubrey's language. Before, working with Carolyn at Developing Canine, walking with Aubrey ,who is a big dog, was a challenge. After training we are taking longer walks, they are relaxing for both of us, and we both are getting really comfortable with her being off leash. I can not recommend Carolyn and The Developing Canine enough! We have a VERY active, high-drive german shepherd who wanted to be the boss. We had actually taken her to be trained at another location when she was 4 months old. While she did learn her basic commands, WE did not know how to continue that training at home. Life with Myla was becoming more difficult instead of getting better. I am so thankful that a friend recommended Carolyn to us. Carolyn showed us how to better communicate with our dog so that we can enjoy her to the fullest. Our first session was on Zoom and I wasn't too sure what we would be able to get out of that. The difference in Myla after just one Zoom session was remarkable! The greatest compliments came from our kids who would dread having to deal with Myla when they came over. They now enjoy her as much as we do. The best part about all of it, is that it's actually so easy if you just follow what she tells you to do and then implement it on a consistent basis. I thoroughly enjoy my walks with Myla now and playtime with her is fun. I will forever be thankful for the gift Carolyn gave to us.

This handsome boy turned 2 a couple of weeks ago. He is a perfect gentleman in every way! He is calm, waits patiently at doors and gates, sits, walks appropriately both on leash and off, comes on command. He is simply fun to be around!

Cannot recommend the developing canine enough if you’re in need of training for your dog. We worked with Carolyn doing the on leash and off leash program beginning when our puppy was 6 months old. We were in over our heads with a wild puppy and 6 month old baby, and the training we received from Carolyn was a life saver! Our dog Maisie has improved leaps and bounds! We were a bit hesitant to do trainings over Zoom at first, but I am so glad we did! The training we received though over zoom, was still top notch and incredibly helpful! Carolyn was always willing to be flexible to work with our schedule which was incredibly helpful for us. If you are looking for a quality dog trainer that really cares, look no further than The Developing Canine!

Carolyn has been such an incredible resource for us while my boyfriend, Brian, and I have been training our dog, River. We knew once we adopted her that we wanted her to have not only basic obedience skills but also have confidence in her off-leash abilities.

Carolyn at The Developing Canine is nothing short of amazing. My 2 dogs, lab/pit sisters started training at 6 months and there is already a world of difference just 2 months later. I highly recommend letting her keep your dog(s) at her house after the on leash program. She can train them so quickly with her years of experience, but my favorite thing about her is her kindness and love toward my doggies. She is tuff on them but also loving. She doesn’t put up with any nonsense from them, but loves them a lot. My dogs are so much more calm, and they know all of their commands. We have a long way to go since they started fighting each other in December, but Carolyn is helping me work towards being able to keep both dogs. I have hope they can be together, but at the very least they will both be well trained if one has to go live with my parents. If you recently adopted a dog, I can’t recommend Carolyn enough. This is a life long investment to get the best relationship with your dog, and it truly is the best thing you can give your pup!
