“Nice little store with friendly staff who know exactly where things are. It was not what I expected at all, I had assumed it was more of a 'wants' store like Five Below, but it's more like Dollar General's ritzy older brother. They have all your staples: people food, pet food, toiletries, etc. in addition to the cool gadgets, pens, toys etc that I was expecting. It seems to be a perfect place to shop if you're single and want smaller quantities for reasonable prices. I love the ability to feel the pens and pencils and buy exactly one, I don't always need a 10 pack of everything!”

“Five star experience at five below, came in needing a few supplies and Sam gave me a warm welcome, she was really helpful and guided me to my needs, she was really patient although I was in a hurry on my trip!”

“The staff is always friendly & there's always a good treasure to be found. If you like to treasure hunt or just want to grab some fantastic boiled peanuts, this is the stop for you!”
Dollar General opened its 20,000th U.S. store on February 24th in Alice, Texas. It’s a major milestone for the discount chain that started as one small general store back in 1955. Starting with a ribbon cutting ceremony, the grand opening celebration began at 9am. First customers received some freebies - tote bags filled with free product samples and snacks from DG's Clover Valley brand.
