Worst company I have ever dealt with. Have been trying to handle my sister's estate for 3.5 months now. All I wanted to do was get a refund check for her escrow account since the property had been sold and mortgage paid off. First I couldn't get anyone to talk to me despite sending court papers that I am executor. They kept asking for info/documents which I promptly emailed to them. Three months later, they finally talk to me and said they sent escrow refund check to the SOLD property address despite me being told that closing attorneys provided forwarding address and despite having a USPS change of address in place (strangely, this company's mail was the only one that got "lost"). They never received returned check either so then they said they will cancel and reissue check. Since I haven't received check, I call back 3 weeks later to be told that it takes 30-60 days for a reissue!!! The one good thing is this last rep immediately called me back because she read the notes and figured out that the check was NEVER reissued-- that they were trying to get a hold of me (they had diff phone # despite giving to them multiple times verbally and in emails, along with my email address). This time, they say they need govt id which I included in that email from two months ago (BTW, they confirmed the email was received because they showed my name as executor which was the purpose of the email). So this latest Rep provided me a different email address to send my govt id (again). We'll see how far I get this time... I am appalled at this company's service (or lack of) and will NEVER use this company again. This is just a scaled down version of what I have gone thru the past 3.5 months. I will also communicate (and have already) to all my friends and contacts to steer clear of this company and relate to them my experience.

STAY FAR AWAY!!! This company has by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I have been chasing an escrow problem for over a year. I have called a dozen times and no one including the "supervisors" seems to even understand my simple questions. The representatives clearly have no interest in helping and will do anything they can to get you off the phone quickly. This company has the worst customer service. If you want a lender with representatives that can answer basic questions or do simple math I recommend you find a any other lender than Ameris.

You might wish to Google my review at Mark Zielinski—Fidelity Bank Mortgage before having any dealings with Ameris Bank.

As a first time home buyer, I would not recommend using them for your home loan. I had several issues with this bank and came very close to pushing back my closing date so I could find another lender.
