You might see this post on several boarding pages or reviews, but it is important for these people to get the recognition they deserve for doing what they didn’t have to do. I am brought to tears by the kindness and compassion that Kellie and her team at Spanish Moss Stables in Hahira, GA have shown to my sweet little mare.Backstory: my horse was in a care-lease situation while I was stationed overseas. Upon my return, I found that my horse had been relocated to Georgia because the care-leasee was going through a hard time financially and lost her farm. After speaking with the person that had my horse, we agreed that they would hold onto her until I moved across the country and got established in my new home. When that happened and I was able to reclaim my mare, I reached out to the woman to advise that i was ready for my mare to come home. My texts and calls were met with silence and I was blocked on social media. After legal intervention, I was able to reclaim my mare.Where Spanish Moss Stables comes in. The decision to allow me to reclaim my mare was sudden. I knew that the case could go either way. People continued to tell me “well, possession is 9/10ths of the law” and “good luck trying to get her back, it won’t happen”. After contacting the attorney office to get the process going, I made a post on the Military Horse page asking anyone near Moody AFB to contact me. That’s when I met Olivia. She answered my post and sent me a message. I explained my situation and said that there was a possibility that I would have to evacuate my mare and needed a short term boarding facility able to accommodate her. Olivia not only got me in touch with her boarding barn’s owner, Kellie, she also contacted her friend to see if assistance with transportation was possible. Several weeks went by but I did not hear from my attorney. Out of the blue, my attorney called on a Monday saying that I could get my horse. I live across the country, so logistics were a nightmare. I contacted Kellie at Spanish Moss Stables and advised that things were moving quickly and I was JUST granted possession of my mare. She said that my mare could come any time. I contacted the transporter that same day, but she was busy and could not assist. I happened to be scrolling on Facebook and saw a post by Lucas M Brooks Transportation — he was coming down the state of Georgia and had open slots. I contacted him and let him know the details, he was more than happy to assist and said he could pick her up first thing Tuesday morning. The next day came and my mare was delivered to Spanish Moss Stables. What I didn’t know was that she would be in an absolute deplorable condition. Unbeknownst to me, she was neglected and not cared for. My heart shattered, but Kellie and her team knew just what to do. They immediately began her rehabilitation the moment she landed on their property. The vet and the farrier both came out the next day. She had a severe abscess in her hoof. Her feet had not seen a trimmer in so long that they were overgrown and her angles make it a possibility that she could suffer long term in her joints and ligaments. She rubbed her tail so much that it was bleeding and the hair was gone. Kellie broke the news to me but also reassured me that they were doing everything right by her and that she would be ok. She sent me daily updates and photos during the time that my mare was at her facility. She held her for the vet and farrier, she maintained her bandaged and wrapped foot, and even soaked her meals.Kellie and her team took a chance on me and my mare. They welcomed her with open arms and gave her a soft landing after a rough journey. They did what not many proper would have done. I’ve said this before, but it takes a village and Kellie’s village was what my mare needed to survive. My appreciation and my gratitude for the people at Spanish Moss Stables is greater than anything that words can describe. I could not have found better people to help me with this journey.

Beautiful, well-kept facilities with staff and barn owners who really truly care about the horses and their well-being. My mare has never been happier! Quality training and lots of places to ride, with 3 arenas and acres of trails.

Great place to board your or take lessons. The stables are very clean and the fields are large with plenty of fresh grass for the horses. My wife and I stable one of our horses here and are very happy with this barn over ones we have had in the past. The shaded arena is amazing with it's fans and air conditioned watching rooms.
