We stayed in the Windmill over the Labor Day weekend and loved it. A nice comfortable room at a nice price! We had plenty of safe parking plus everything was in walking distance. We had a blast and will return!

Very outdated. Pulled back the covers and there was hair, crumbs and dirt on the sheets, debris under table and couch on floor, terrible toiletries. No trash removal and 2 towels/washcloths for a 3 night stay. Pink tub grungy. It had a jacuzzi which we did not use. Room way overpriced for what you get. We have traveled a lot and this was by far the worst! Town is lovely. Alpine Cafe was great for breakfast and pizza. We also enjoyed Troll Tavern and Big Daddy’s. Local staff of restaurants were awesome.

We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed in room #53 on the far right side of the property. The room was updated and really looked better than the chain hotels. Outside, there are two different sitting areas . It was nice sitting out when the sun went down. The hotel is right on the strip, making it convenient to walk to almost everything. The only downside of the room was that it only had two bench type seats for the table in the room. Two real chairs would be much more comfortable. The check-in process is a little different from most hotels. They send a code that is used to unlock the door. It was nice not to have to carry a key or a key card. We were told the room would be refreshed each day, but we had to call for new towels. The room is also pet friendly. There are grassy areas for your dog to do their business.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!!! It's at the perfect location, which is at the beginning of the town. The rooms are comfy, especially the beds. Bathrooms are a bit small and confining, but it pushes you to get ready faster to hit the town. If you are in need of an extra cot, ask the front desk. The staff is super friendly and go above and beyond in customer service. I plan on returning for my birthday.

We’ve now stayed there 3 times, and I can’t imagine staying elsewhere. The Heidi is full of charm and character. This time we had to stay in a different room at first, as our usual windmill room would not be available until the next night. It was perfectly fine though. Our usual room presented some minor problems we hadn’t experienced before; one of which was a very lumpy and odd bed. A maintenance guy even took a look at it and couldn’t figure out the problem either. We were offered another room but of course didn’t do that, we just got used to the bed for a few more nights! The Heidi is a perfect home base for a trip to Helen and the area. We will probably always go back.

When visiting Helen, which is a must, you'll be more than satisfied and happy with The Heidi Motel. Easy walking to main street Helen. Clean. Friendly. We stayed in the windmill. You get all of your instructions and information on your cell. You WILL NOT be disappointed.

When we arrived at Helen we planned to stay at one of the newer hotels. But after reading the terrible reviews how the sheets were so dirty and seeing the great reviews on the little Heidi Windmill Motel we decided to stop and see if they had a last minute room left. To our surprise the owner had a room in the windmill with one queen bed and had a extra rollaway bed brought up for our 8 year old granddaughter. This turned out to be the highlight of our granddaughters vacation! She will never forget the great time she had staying in a windmill. This is all she talks about. And being able to walk next door and shop at the Jolly Toy Store. She loved sitting in the swing out front and watching all the people and horse and carriages. Another highlight was just walking across the street and playing with the outdoor kids games while her grandparents had a sandwich at the outside deli. And most of all was the lovely sweet family that went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed for a great stay in their motel.

We stayed at this hotel, two years ago in a different room type than our most recent trip and had a really good experience, which is why we chose to stay there again. We really love the location because it’s close to downtown Helen and the hotel itself is really cute. This time we chose to stay in a deluxe queen studio (room 52). The room is furnished well and had everything we needed for our stay. But there were a few issues. The wood floor in the main area of the room has a lot of soft/spongy spots and is very creaky everywhere - you cannot walk around quietly at all. The bedframe was very noisy - you can’t even roll over in the bed without it sounding like something is about to break. There were two windows in our room, which didn’t have a great view, but our main concern were the window coverings. We would’ve liked to have seen some blackout curtains/blinds on the windows rather than the white plastic blinds they currently have. It was so bright in the mornings that the sun kept waking us up too early - we were on vacation and would have liked to have been able to sleep later. Our first day at the hotel, there was a really bad thunderstorm, and after that the air in the room felt really moist the rest of the weekend despite the fact that we kept the air conditioner running on the “dry” setting for hours afterward. The new electric door handles are a bit of a pain. It was aggravating to get the keypad to come up so we could type in our door code. We were told via text at check-in that the room would be refreshed between 11 AM to 12 PM each day and that did not happen at all, despite sending a text requesting additional towels and hanging the door hanger outside. I ended up having to call the maintenance man to get more towels. Lastly and not really the hotel’s fault, the guests in the room next to us (room 53) that checked in the day after we did were incredibly inconsiderate of other people staying in the hotel. Their kids were exceptionally loud and running around the hallway outside of our room and what must’ve been climbing and jumping all over the furniture in their room from all the noises we heard through the wall. They also brought a dog, which they would leave in the room alone for periods of time and it would bark the entire time they were gone. I’m glad this family was able to take a vacation together on Father’s Day weekend, but it would have been nice if they had been more considerate of others while they were there.

My husband and I decided to spend one night in Helen and he found and booked this location. Typically when I see “motel” I am skeptical but this place was adorable, safe, clean and very comfortable. Check in and out was simple!… we will be back for sure!!

Absolutely loved our stay here,we stayed in a king deluxe room, not the lighthouse, and our room was too cute. Great heat/ac,clean,nice tub/shower. The TV had netflix, etc, there was no noise keeping me up at night, and there was a code to the door so you didn't have to carry around a key! The staff was nice, everything is done by text message so if you need anything you just text them and they leave it by your door. Would definitely stay here again.

Ok so here is the deal...... I love to support small businesses especially in this economy. We decided to go to Helen Georgia for Octoberfest. Yes I know that this is prime time so prices will be higher but I expect something for my money. The rooms here have been updated they say but for the money I paid .... I definitely would expect more. Things were definitely shabby and there was a hole in the wall with some paint missing? We also asked upfront when reserving for a roll away bed for our daughter. This was another extra charge which I feel is ridiculous added to the already expensive rate for a motel this old and run down. When we got there the roll away was not in the room and the current person at the front did not know about it.They brought one to the room while we were out but it was broken and the mattress was wet.So at 1000 at night we had to call to get another roll away and it all seemed like a bother to them.In the end - upon check out the lady stated she would refund us the roll away charge. A week later still no refund. I contacted them and asked for a refund and finally they refunded the charge.Unfortunately- this place needs more help than I can provide with this review.
