Picture this: I accidentally leave my phone in Dahlonega (iconic, truly), then proceed to drive all the way down to Johns Creek with my dog Max—who, for the record, smelled like he had personally offended soap. The mission? Drop him off at the groomer.
The problem? I arrive… and realize I have no phone. No GPS. No idea where I’m going. Just vibes and poor decision-making.
Now, if you know me, you know your girl has elite-level social anxiety. Like, “would rather drive in circles for 45 minutes than ask for directions” energy. So I’m spiraling, mildly panicking, and trying to find a place that feels… safe. Non-judgmental. Somewhere, I won’t be perceived too hard.
And then it hits me: vape shops. Always chill. Never asking questions you’re not ready to answer.
Enter: Hot Box.
I pull in, mentally rehearsing my speech like I’m about to present a TED Talk titled “Hi I’m Lost and It’s Getting Worse.” I walk in and say, “Hi, my name’s Katie and I have a weird request.”
Aya—absolute legend—doesn’t even blink. She listens to my chaotic saga, immediately whips out her phone, and writes down directions like it’s 2003 and MapQuest just dropped. Calm. Kind. Zero judgment. Just pure “I got you” energy.
And honestly? That’s when I knew I was going to be okay.
So yes, this is your reminder: heroes are among us. Sometimes they don’t wear capes—sometimes they work at vape shops and save stressed-out girls and their stinky dogs from completely losing it.

Fair prices, drinks and coffee...but when I discovered I left my only laptop charger there and emailed them at 1140p. There seemed to be some regulars in but the employee got up anyways and helped me with my selection.
