My wife and I have spent a lot of time here. We have stayed in the cabins and rented a slip for 3 years. There have been a lot of improvements under new management, but I have found the business owners can not handle complaints. If you post any criticism or suggestions on their Facebook page, they remove it. Now, regarding my complaints:1. The slip cost increased 4 times after the marina went under new management. The first was when they went under new management, two more increases due to administrative fees, and the final straw was the flat rate power charges.2. They have not had a pump out station for over 1 year. It cost $50 in gas to drive my boat to Southern Harbor to use their pump out station that does not have adequate fittings for the black water tank.3. No water was provided for the dock. When I complained, it was considered a complimentary service. I suggested they run a hose from a water source to the dock, but they would not entertain my request. Some boats require access to fresh water.4. One of the employees recommended a non-employee who could be hired to perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on my boat. This "mechanic" caused several thousand dollars worth of damage to my boat (fried the ECU). I do not blame this on the marina. However, it was an employee who recommended this person as reliable. It was also my own fault for trusting the "mechanic's" qualifications.5. The docks are always filthy. As much money this business is taking in with constant raised dock fees, they can have someone hose down the docks once a month.6. The bathrooms by the boat launch are disgusting.7. The docks at the boat launch are in bad shape. You have to be extremely careful when docking your boat as there are protrusions that can scratch or puncture your hull.8. Whenever you ask when something will be fixed, the canned answer is "we have someone that will work on that next week." The restaurant is a good example. It was supposed to be opened on July 4th weekend. Here it is at the end of the season (September), and they are just now hiring employees? This makes no sense. The restaurant will not be open over fall/winter. Who in their right mind would apply to work at a new restaurant that will close in a month? Also, every time I asked about when water would be restored or when gas pumps or pump out station would open, I could never get a straight answer.9. The water's edge around the marina was often filthy. Lots of trash would be seen by the water edge next to the beach. The last time I was there, it appeared it was cleaned up, but every time before, it was filthy.10. Cabins are filthy. Beds are horrible. Bugs inside the cabins.I will admit the marina appearance has improved over the past couple of years but the initial promise made to those who had slips was the work would be completed over one season (2022) but work is still in progress at the end of 2023.Frankly, for the price they are charging for a slip, now you can get a slip at one of the better GA lakes for around the same cost. Cleaner water (West Point Lake is south of Atlanta and is fed from the Chattahoochee River). Other marinas we visited have better amenities (some with onsite boat repair).When I called to cancel our slip, I was asked why. I told the employee who answered my call if the manager had any concern why we left he could call me.Nobody has called. Sigh....

I have been staying here the last few weeks for business in Lagrange. The cabins are newly redone and very nice! I have enjoyed fishing in the evenings. It is a quiet and peaceful location.

I've never been so ready to leave a review in my life. This place is OVERPRICED AND NASTY! the extra star is only because they did give us a 30% discount for the complaints we had upon arrival. There's a mandatory cleaning fee they charge but the place is not throughly cleaned. We were initially in cabin 27 and as soon as we opened the door there were ROACHES everywhere including the fridge! So they gave us another cabin next door. No roaches but dead bugs , stringy blonde hair and spider webs on the chairs in plain sight. Wifi was not working so we called the number give to let them know , the lady told us someone was on the way to us multiple times over the span of several hours and nobody ever came out to check it during our whole 3 day stay. Advertising a 3 bedroom cabin is little misleading because there's 2 bedrooms downstairs and the upstairs is just a loft with 2 twin beds and a lamp in it, there's no door or TV in there either so if there were couples needing privacy just know there will be none if you end up with the loft as your "room" . Grounds/grass area pictures speak for themselves they need to do better. The view of the lake is beautiful and it was very quiet but probably because there wasn't anyone else there. I wouldn't book here again or recommend to any of my friends/ family because the money it costs isn't worth what was presented to us.Rooms: Dirty! I have black hair no reason I should be waking up with nasty, stringy blonde hair all over me.

Do not know anything about the rooms, the people in the store are very friendly but you pay $5 every time you put your boat in the water and for paying money,the bathrooms are some of the most nasty I have ever seen. Had to go to the gas station because that was the 2nd time I could not go there. The ramps down the street are 24 hours, no payment, and nice bathroom! Pretty disappointed, especially for a so called "marina". Only editing my review because they responded in a polite way that I respect in a business.

So our family booked 2021 June to reserve two dockside cabins fully paid for and end up having a family emergency where emergency surgery was needed. Due to the severity of the situation considering brain surgery recovery time, the manager at the time gave us credit rather than a refund and said we had two years to use the credit. Since then the new owners have taken over and decided that they will not honor the credit of the business that they purchased. NOWHERE IN OUR PAPERWORK DOES IT STATE THAT THE CREDIT IS ONLY GOOD FOR ONE YEAR. The sum of the reservation was just about three grand and we have come to learn that we are no longer eligible to use our credit because of the new owners/management company. The resolution they came to was that we rebook, spend another 3 grand more on what we have already purchased and they would ever so graciously credit us one night per cabin. UNACCEPTABLE. WE WILL BE FORWARDING THIS TO THE GEORGIA CONSUMER PROTECTION BUREAU. WORD OF ADVICE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS RESORT. LISTEN TO THE PREVIOUS REVIEWS AS MY FAMILY DID NOT AND WE FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY.

This place is not worth your time or money. They call it a beach front property but you can't even go to the water because it's very dirty. The dock is also very dirty. The cabins are old and they smell. The whole place needs a complete make over. They say that it is peaceful and quiet and they are correct but it's because there is no one staying here. Save your money and time.Rooms: Cabins are old and smell bad.

We will not be back. The only good thing I can say is their maintenance man was friendly. There was a permanent camper resident who was male going into the womens bathhouse so you were not safe to be in there. There were dogs not leashed who would run after you. People living in the campers year round making the area very trashy. Complained about the dog charging out at us and nothing was done. This has the potential to be a great place if it was managed properly.

I booked my reservation on 9.25.22 to stay on October 21,2022. Part of the parties involved couldn’t stay due to a family emergency. I called several times weeks in advance to cancel. Finally, I found a contact email. One of the employees responding saying “ Thank you for letting us know. I will not be able to refund any of your deposit. Our cancellation policy is anything canceled inside of 30 days prior to your reservation does not receive a refund”. I have booked several cabins and I only know about 2 weeks policy. Since the pandemic and the financial times our country is in MOST places have the heart to return your money. I should have never booked with them again after my last stay where I had feces coming out of the sink. I DON’T RECOMMEND ANYBODY STAY HERE. While in the office during my last stay. I overheard a lady complaining that her daughter fell through the floor inside the cabin they were staying in.

This is a long, thorough, and fair review of our experience at the property.Our family came here for a quick getaway to the lake. The initial impression was cool. Check in was easy, folks were nice and sent someone quickly when we had a leak in the bathroom. Outside of our cabin was nice, except there was a half full gas container under our stairs. That was a bit worrisome. Then we noticed the front door wasn't closed completely. It didn't line up flush to the door seal, like it was kicked in and never fixed. That's a security issue that really needs to be fixed. Luckily, I do many trips and I'm all about security, so we had an alarm door stopper and other stuff. The cabin was somewhat clean. I really don't like that places charge so much for cleaning service and you get there and have to clean. They have to do better. There are some little things that need to be taken care of in the cabin. But overall we made it work for us. Be advised there are no TVs in the cabins anymore and the WiFi ispretty weak. Not many utensils, but we always bring our own kitchen items, if we can. The view was good, could take a couple more trees down to make it better. Overall, it was relaxing and would want to stay in that cabin or the larger one again.

Rented a pontoon for the day AFTER Labor Day. THEN I saw reviews stating awful things. I received a phone call stating they needed to change the date of my reservation. Noooo! We all took a day off for family time! They honored the reservation. We arrived and were off in the boat within 10 minutes. It was a new boat and everything was simply PERFECT! The people we dealt with were very pleasant and helpful. We only saw 3 other boats on the lake all day. It was if we had a private lake day! PERFECT in every way. Definitely recommend Highland Marina for boat rentals. THANK YOU for making a very RARE all family outing super enjoyable!
