I love training at Team Mongoose. The Coaches and staff are very professional and extremely knowledgeable. If you want to learn legit BJJ then this is the best place to be in Lawrenceville.

We found exactly what we were looking for at Team Mongoose! I love that there is so much structure and that kids are taught foundational techniques and the importance of them. Professor Maajid and his team lead with strong values that have helped my son become more disciplined and confident.

I really enjoy going to this gym. It’s not too crowded but enough people to get different styles when rolling. Also, the professors takes the time to spend with each student to make sure they are really improving their craft and excelling. But you gotta show up for it to work! Ous!

AVOID/WASTE OF $$$. It's $140 for registration and another $140 the uniform that you won't receive (been going 2 months and have to wear uniforms worn by previous class). Sometimes the place it's open and other times it's not, call to see if class will be held (if their phones are working). He only demonstrates on the females (particular the 12/13 yr old female indian/pakistan). His wife Patrice (bald head/short hair) has smart remarks during the session. He will act funny/different if he takes a liking to the new students mother. He really doesn't have control of the students (they all seem uninterested and don't follow directions). Don't say I told you so!

A few months ago I signed my daughter up for class. After watching her for a month or so, I decided I was going to give it a try. It wasn’t long before my daughter and I started talking about BJJ. It’s really fun to learn something with a loved one. It has contributed to hours of conversations with us geeking out on techniques but more importantly lets us really understand each other. What comes easy, what is difficult. Everyone at Team Mongoose is accepting and more than willing to help you out. Professor Maajid has created an incredible atmosphere. We feel like we belong to something bigger. Everyone cares about everyone and really want each other to succeed.On a more personal note of how joining Team Mongoose has effected me. I am/was a person who listened to my ego. So I had a really over inflated view of myself and my abilities. It didn’t take long before I realized I am not who I used to be. I can’t do what I thought I could. But I could see all around me people doing the very things I want to do. It became very clear to me at this point that all hope was not lost. All I need to do is show up and get to work. Professor Maajid has the blue print. He’s making me an all around better person. He showed me I’m not who I thought I was, but better yet, has also showed me I can be. It’s really hard to explain to someone how much you know they are helping you, so I simply thank Professor Maajid after every practice. If you are even a little interested, you should sign up. It will be the best decision you can make for yourself. If you have a child, sign them up.

What a great experience at team mongoose bjj. Professor and his students made feel very welcomed and had a great training session learning new techniques and throws. This is a family friendly gym and open to all classes of people. I will definitely be back to train.

When I was contemplating learning Jiu Jitsu at 47 years old, I was uncertain if there was a place for me - thankfully my uncertainty was put to rest the moment I walked in the door and met Professor Maajid Al-Kush. After 2 weeks of classes 3-4x a week, I cannot express how humbling, welcoming and rewarding this experience has been. From Instructors to students of all levels, I was welcomed with open arms. There are no bad attitudes here - everyone helps everyone progress with patience and enthusiasm. The availability of evening and afternoon classes is a huge bonus as well. If you’re considering learning BJJ, this is THE place. It’s hard work but each class is rewarding and addictive. Do it!!

I am so grateful that I mustered up the courage to walk into this place! It was intimidating being the only girl that day but Professor Maajid was nothing but friendly, welcoming and positive. He has a gift for teaching and making even the most complex sequence of moves seem so simple and intuitive. His teachings go beyond martial arts as he offers real life guidance and advice. All the members in the gym are so respectful, helpful and friendly.. I'm totally hooked and look forward to class, no matter how sore and tired I may be the next day!!

Coming here will benefit you greatly from physical aspects of training your body and bettering your technique in Bjj. Everyone works on becoming better together and the instructor strives to help each person individually. I recommend this place for new people interested looking for a new skill to grasp and ones who have trained bjj in the past and want to get back into it. Or ones simply wanting a great environment for exercise.

I’m a “littermate” of Professor Maajid and received my Black-belt along side him in 2009 under the tutelage and mastership of Romero “Jacare” Cavalcante the leader of Alliance Jiu jitsu Academy. I’ve had the pleasure to witness every stage of Professor Maajid’s journey and evolution as a martial artist. In fact, I also knew him before we started Jiu-Jitsu and he practiced American boxing and Kung-Fu of which he was a fine student of!Just as he was and is a very excellent student of the martial arts he is as a teacher. Professor Maajid’s schools have been amongst the cleanest I’ve ever visited, the most disciplined, and well mannered by not only himself, but his staff and students…PERIOD. So glad we found Team Mongoose! My 5yr old has tried a bunch of sports but nothing has really clicked for him in terms of staying interested. Common for younger kids.BJJ has opened a whole new world of confidence, sportsmanship and respect for our son.Professor Maajid and his coaches are amazing with the kids. From day 1 our son was immediately included and felt like part of the team. The Professor clearly takes time to make sure the new kids feel welcome. They even spend individual time with the new students to make sure they are successful.Can't wait to see how he keeps growing with his fellow teammates.
