I had a mixed experience at Jamela’s Hair Braiding. Despite a prompt 2:00 appointment, initial customer service was lacking, with a 30-minute wait and unclear communication. The abrupt change in attention when I left to purchase a hair product was confusing. Once in the chair, Nehemiah was professional, but Anna's attitude, tight braiding, and mocking behavior were unpleasant. It created a discomforting atmosphere, impacting the overall experience.

Absolutely terrible experience! Would give 0 stars if I could. Went to this place for a sew in after finding them on TikTok. My current stylist was out of the country so because I’ve heard so many good things about this place, I decided to give them a try.First off, my appt was at 5pm. I waited and waited to get in the chair as I arrived ON TIME per usual for any appt. I didn't get in the chair until almost 7pm. I should have left, but didn’t.Second when I booked this appt, I was given a flat price of $100 for a sew in. So finally around 9:40pm, the lady says we’re done. Very disappointed in how it looked by the way, I still planned to pay as I appreciate anyone’s time and hard work for a service. Got to the window and she says, it’s $120 bc we sewed in 3 bundles. Why wasn’t I told this when I booked the appt? So I politely said, I was told when I booked this appt, that the price was $100 flat. There was no breakdown according to how many bundles and I’m prepared to pay $100 not $120. So the lady says, well next time it’ll be $120! On top of that, with the way my hair was sewn in, I may not be able to reuse this hair for a future style!! Understand me when I say, they’ll be no next time. First and last time at this place! I do not recommend this business as I am extremely disappointed in the lack of professionalism and lack of service being provided at this establishment.

Jamela hair braiding is a great and affordable salon. I've gotten braids here multiple times and brought my daughters and they all loved their hair. They are fast and the braids are neat. We will definitely keep coming here!

One of the best braiding shops in Atlanta. The only complaint is that you have to be on them about part sizes (not to do a medium part with a small braid). If you feel uncomfortable with your hair speak up! They’re very accommodating.

I arrived without an appointment and sat in the chair around 12 and was done by 6. Fefe and Kayla braided my hair, boho knot less and perfect. I would say 5 stars but I asked for full curls, and was given a price based on the amount of bundles I wanted used, but all the bundles weren’t used. Other than that I love the code the neatness, and the speed.

10/10 I normally do my hair on my own. But I took a chance by recommendation of my sister and I’m glad I did. Fatou and Breda were great ! I showed them my inspo and she nailed it. Will be back ! (Small knotless boohoo)

I had an appointment for 7:30 am for small knotless braids waist length and left at 3:30pm, I arrived on time (was the first client in the building) and was seated. She didn’t start braiding until 8:09am, she did blow dry my hair and separated the braiding hair during the 30 minutes. Two people did my hair, the younger girl (which was great) started on the back the older lady came moments later and started on the front. Around noon the older lady started working on someone else’s head and the younger girl was done with the back and then told to also work on someone else, I was NEVER done with the front. The older lady came back finished, then both came back and started with braiding down the ends. The older lady AGAIN walks away and never finished my head, she told someone else completely different to finish my braid down and never returns. Lastly I then got a blunt cut with a razor that was never asked for. I have been getting knotless for 3 years now in the Atlanta area and it never took 8 hours especially for it not being full.

I love going to here to get my basic box braids. The prices are affordable, and the service is clean and quick. I told them I needed to be out by a certain time, and they were able to do butt length small knotless braids in four hours for 270. The hair was provided in multiple different colors and I will definitely be going back. However, keep in mind that these are “the Africans”, and they are not your Instagram stylists, so I would keep the styles simple and traditional. I go to them for any kind of individual braids, and hesitate going anywhere else in atl. Also, the idea of an appointment is a very loose term, try to be the first appointment in the morning between 7 and 8 AM on a weekday. I’ve read a lot of bad typically of people who went later in the day, or on a weekend, but I’ve never had any issues early morning weekdays.Service: Braids

Now let me start with saying, I’ve been several times before but only got braids. But this time I got spring twist, and long story short. They charged me $210 for barley to my shoulders (even though I asked for on my back) I also ask to wash my hair ( to go to its curly state) because I came with my hair straight and saw several pieces of “my hair” sticking out the twist. They told me it was fine. But cut so much of hair “trimming my fly a ways”. So not only was I not happy with the length (showing several pictures n stopping them multiple times) but not I’m taking down my hair n all most every other twist my hair is coming out.Service: Braids

This place is terrible. I set up an appointment and it was cancelled 15 minutes before the appointment because there were no braiders. I drove over an hour to the shop and the shop was full of braiders. Unreliable and only trendy because of TikTok (the owner asked me did you find us on TikTok) .The owner kept me on the phone on hood waiting to “get back to me” and never did. When I called back she said she is talking to a customer. Lol Please skip and go to a more reliable shop next time.Service: Braids

Very bad customer service. I asked for micros and got micros in the front and box braids in the back. Then it’s not long and she tried to send me out without even dipping the HAIR! Even you didn’t want to do then you should’ve let me when I tried. I don’t recommend.., keep going to the hood. They nicer, cheaper and faster.

I've never had an experience that was bad enough to use my energy to write a review until now. I booked an appt. and asked when I booked if they had the hair for the style I wanted. I was assured that they had it and that the cost for my style would be $180. When I arrived for my appt. on time I was horrified at the waiting room full of people that were told not to worry just take a seat. My 2pm appt. was pointless as the system was more on a first come first serve basis. When I was finally called I was told they did not have the hair I wanted. They suggested I go to the beauty supply store with one of their stylist and purchase my own hair; which I did. I paid $30 for the hair and returned to the salon. Before starting my hair someone asked, does she know how much it is? I was told that $10 would be taken off the price of the style because I purchased my own hair. I responded that I purchased my own hair because they didn't have the hair I asked for when I booked. I advised that I paid $30 at the beauty supply store and therefore, should be charged $150. The response snapped back at me was, we take $10 off when you bring your own hair. I said a silent prayer and agreed to pay the additional $20. And it was a good thing that I knew the words of prayer because for the next 5 1/2 hours I had to raddle off an array of prayers as my kinky twist were installed so tightly I could barely think. I've had my braids in for 2 days and sad to say I'll be taking them out tonight. The braids were installed extremely too tight and I'm concerned over protecting the health of my natural hair. This is the 2nd time I've had my hair braided at Jamela's and the 2nd time I've had issues pertaining to the cost. Although I was asked numerous times if I was ok, the quality of the treatment I received (packed into a small space, people braiding in every nook and cranny of the building) No shift in behavior when it was evident the braids were being installed too tight. And most importantly, no care that the customer was inconvenienced by having to drive to get hair and was not properly credited. Getting the most heads done in a day, by any means necessary is not a good business moto.Service: Braids
