The restaurant was charming, delightful and engaging, interior and exterior. The inside was perfect in design and composition and made you feel you were in Bavaria or Heidelberg and enjoying the best food Germany itself could offer. The service was beyond gracious and most accommodating. Food was impeccable and obviously prepared by an accomplished chef! I highly recommend this gem in the heart of Pine Mountain's old town center.

We were so excited to celebrate my grandfather’s 73rd birthday. He was born and raised in Germany, so he has been wanting to try out Pure Chipley since he heard of their opening. I wish we could say the experience was a pleasant one, but it was far from that. Upon walking in, we were very happy with the atmosphere and ambiance, as this place has so much potential! That all ended abruptly when we were greeted with a “Do y’all have a reservation?” instead of a “Hello, how are you all doing this evening?” I nicely explained that, yes, we have a reservation for 6 at 6:30. We were told to wait while they got the table ready, which was fine because there was live music playing and that was enjoyable. Once finally seated, it took quite a while for the (only) server to make her way to us because she was busy with another 8 person party- understandable. Once greeted, we asked for sweet tea, but she informed us that none of the drinks receive refills. At $3 per drink, I would like to have the option for a refill with my dinner. So because of that, we decided to just stick with water. We asked for some lemons for the water and the waitress said “our water is infused with lemons and limes.” Okay so I guess we aren’t receiving those. (And the water was COMPLETELY plain water.) On top of that, no ice exists in the entire place. Next, we asked for the appetizer of pretzels with beer cheese. She said “oh I think we just ran out, hold on.” After a few minutes, she came back and said “I can do a half order.” Oooookay, so you mean 1 pretzel? If your pretzel appetizer comes as two pretzels, how in the world do you only have one pretzel left? We decided against that and began to order our food. The online menu states they serve spaetzle, which is the staple of German food in my opinion. They did not have that and we were told “oh we have to update the menu.” YOU JUST OPENED. Moving on- we all ordered our food and were excited to try out something new. After an hour and a half, we still had no food. The server told us that new pretzels were being made, so we decided to order that once again because we were all starving. The pretzels themselves were good, but the beer cheese was very gritty - I don’t know how to explain but it was like it was separating. Once food started to arrive, it came out one plate at a time. My fiancé received his plate with only 5 french fries on it (literally). The (I believe) OWNER came to the table to check on us thus far, so we asked about the amount of french fries received and her response was “oh I guess the chef is upset because you ordered it without mushrooms.” ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I was so shocked, I was speechless. They did finally bring some extra fries because there was no denying the quantity was bare. Once we all finally got our dinner plates, we were not thrilled. I believe my mom was the only one happy with her dinner - she ordered the Bratwurst with potato salad. The jaegerschnitzel had good flavor, but the gravy was cold and unflavored. The potato cakes were very undercooked, tasting like raw/cold mashed potatoes. My sister got the chicken schnitzel fingers - 2 out of the 6 were completely burnt and inedible. The sauerkraut was very good, obviously homemade. Nothing else we ate was anything to write home about. After spending, $75 for two people, I wish I didn’t leave hungry. I couldn’t help but laugh at the other reviews stating it felt as though we were on a hidden camera television show, because that’s exactly what it felt like. I was waiting on Gordon Ramsey to come out and tell us all we needed to leave. I really pray they get it together, because with the experience we had last night, they will not last long.

Pure Chipley has quickly become a local favorite. Who knew you could get authentic German food in Pine Mountain, GA!? My personal favorites are the lentil soup and onion tart. This newly opened restaurant is still working out some kinks, understandably, but if you are looking for atmosphere, friendly faces, knowledgeable staff about wine and beer, fantastic live music - you’ve come to the right place! Cheers!

I will start by saying the food was good. The atmosphere when you first walk in is very cozy and I love the firepits outside. The place honestly has a lot of potential. HOWEVER, this was the most uncomfortable dining experience of my life. We were seated at the bar where our server, Ashley, initially began with normal service. After serving us our drinks and taking our order in between disappearing into other parts of the restaurant, Ashley’s behavior quickly devolved into a concerning pattern resembling that of a psychotic break. I went to ask if they had something, only for her to immediately cut me off with a “no.” She then continued to not only neglect the 4 patrons in her area, but also actively pretending not to hear anyone. As we stared at the bar, very uncomfortable with the situation but trying to be patient, assuming this was not the norm, she then began to mumble to herself about being stared at. As she continued to mumble what sounded like insults directed towards us, I finally asked her if she was ok. She responded by mocking me. We should have left at this point, but we relocated to the wine tasting room only to be greeted with a very similar experience. Two patrons in that room have apparently been waiting for some time to be served, as they were discussing the unusual absence of any staff and the behavior of Ashley as she would dart in and out of this room and pretend not to hear them as well while dancing to her own mental concert. We finally had had enough of the poor treatment and asked to speak to someone in charge, only to find out that the GM was just as disassociated as the rest of the staff, but he and another staff member were able to confirm that Ashley’s behavior was not unfamiliar. Another reviewer put it quite well, it was as if these people were pulled off of the street and asked to run a restaurant. When a decent server finally came on shift, we discovered that our order that had been placed an hour earlier with Ashley, had never been placed with the kitchen. To surmise the remainder of the night, it took another hour for our food, and 35 minutes to get our ticket after begging for it so we could leave. In total, we were almost held hostage for 2.5 hours. Exactly as another reviewer stated, we left feeling as if we had just been on a tv show to see how far patrons could be pushed. We are locals and we love German food but we will likely never return, unless we want to watch the disaster unfold for other unsuspecting patrons as based on other reviews, this sounds like the norm. We will bring our own drinks.

I had really been looking forward to trying Pure Chipley. Unfortunately, it was a miss for our group. We came in and the waitress who sat us was polite. We were taken care of by a different waitress and it was clear they were either understaffed that day or always, although she was trying to be nice while stressed. The best part was their beer and wine. We ordered a charcuterie board and after waiting quite a while for it, it came out and some of the meat was gray in color. Immediately turned off by that! The owner delivered it to us and told us he was going to go prepare the food for the other table then make the rest of our food. Although, odd, we didn't mind. We eventually had to ask about our other food however and by that point we're going to have them cancel if they hadn't made it yet. The guy, who we assumed was the owner, snapped at us and said it was ready. Never apologized or anything. We had ordered hot chocolate and chicken fingers for the kids and the drinks tasted like brown colored water. At $5 each (ordered 3) that is a huge no. Hot chocolate isn't difficult to make at all. The chicken fingers were decent but they're served with some tasteless cabbage. What kid wants cabbage anyway?!? We tried to order pretzels as well, but they were out.........A German restaurant was out of pretzels. Overall we weren't impressed and felt the menu to be small and lacking of choices. I definitely wouldn't bring kids here again as there really isn't anything for them. The building is adorable (always has been) and has great potential with their outdoor seating and live music area. I just don't see this restaurant lasting very long unless they do some major turnaround. Bottom line, nothing we had was worth going back for to include the owner acting like an a@@hat.
