“Some years ago I decided that watch repair would be a nice amateur hobby, but after reading some books and trying my best to get old Ebay watches to run I quickly realized that this was a hobby that required years of study, training, and apprenticeship to achieve any kind of proficiency. One epic failure was an antique pocket watch that I bought in Rome (Italy) in an antique store. It did not run. It would not even wind. So I brought it home and disassembled it only to find to my embarrassment that I could not get it back together. I really wanted this watch to run, if possible, as it is a beautiful piece, and 75-100 years old. That is when I took it to Cornell Toncz at the Swiss Watch & Clock Shop in Roswell. I gave him quite literally a box of watch parts, cushioned in tissue paper, and asked him if he could salvage my mess. He told me to come back in a week. When I returned what he presented to me was a gleaming, immaculate timepiece, running as perfectly as the day it was first assembled somewhere in Europe all those decades ago. And to this day, six years later, my beautiful pocket watch keeps time to within a minute a month. A minute a month! It’s miraculous, and a testament to the depth of knowledge and skill of Mr. Toncz, who has devoted his entire life to the art and science of horology. I have the very highest regard for Mr. Toncz and recommend him without reservation to anyone who has a timepiece that needs skilled and knowledgeable hands to restore it to working condition.”
