Keep a eye on what you actually get charged after returning. They pad the final bill for no apparent reason. Also, you'll get a cheaper vehicle than expected...noted as similar

Avis St Simons does not even deserve a 1 star. I went in to Avis a while back it was close to my house. Convenient. So I get there when they open and no ones there so I wait 35 minutes until Amy comes in already with an attitude because I’m standing there. So I got the car everything was fine until check out. Amy has told me that they charge for miles which I was unaware my paperwork said one thing Amy’s another. So I had asked how much would I be charged and she got an attitude. Mind you there is no one else in there.Amy told me she was to busy and then I asked for receipt she again said she was busy and that she would get it to me when she can. Now I don’t know about you but I would like a receipt and to know how much I was getting charged. So we went back and forth for a bit. SoI wouldn’t leave and sat in lobby for an hr til she finally gave me my receipt. So today I came in again not by choice everyone else was sold out and my husband had called and asked if there were any cars left Amy said she had one car left. So I went in and as soon as Amy seen me she rolled her eyes got up and said last time we had a payment problem and I don’t want to rent to you. Actually we did not have a payment problem I had paid it was the fact that she doesn’t like or know how to do her job. She’s to old to have such an attitude and she’s supposed to be manager. I don’t recommend anyone going there until she is replaced. I already contacted corporate .

My son and I went to retrieve hey rental this morning and we're shocked by the behavior of your agent at the airport in St Simons Island, GA. I told her that I had eye surgery 10 days ago and did not feel comfortable driving. I said that my son could act as a surrogate driver. But when I asked to fill out the medical form, she said it didn't exist.. So I called the customer care toll free number for Avis and they told me there was a medical form that I could complete. But she screamed at me and accused me of being a liar.

She yelled at 81 year old mother calling her a liar. She was very unprofessional. when we arrived, she said I don't know if I have any cars or your reservations in the system because I haven't turn my computer on. She was just sitting there doing nothing.

I was extremely impressed with the level of service at Avis - St. Simon Island! Our vehicle broke down on the island at 5:30 pm prior to the 4th of July holiday. I had tried numerous locations for a car rental with no luck. Avis was my last call on the list. Fortunately they had two cars for me to pick from. Due to the holiday they were going to be closing early however, the AVIS Associate volunteered to stay until I could arrive to pick up a car. She was extremely helpful, courteous and very understanding. She gave me options to keep the car longer if needed until my car could be fixed. I highly recommend AVIS on St. Simon Island!

My experience could've turned out differently. Sadly, it did not. It started out as a straightforward transaction. I was on St Simons Island when there was a mandatory evacuation ordered due to Hurricane Matthew. I needed a car so I checked the price of one with Avis online. The price was $48 for the cheapest car. When I called, I was told to come before 5pm since they did not know if they would be open the following morning. She also indicated I didn't need to make a reservation online that she would hold a car for me. Then I got a call a few hours later and was asked to come in as soon as I could because they needed to move their inventory of cars off the island. I understood and went in as soon as I could. Judy was polite from the very beginning and throughout the ordeal. I rented the car for three days and neglected to see that she was charging me $66 per day. (When I asked her about this later I was told that that was the internet rate. Come to find out they have a separate website than the Avis website - what?! ) Anyway, I kept in touch with her throughout the evacuation to let them know I still had the car, etc. The island was closed and I could not return it to SSI. Therefore, I had the car for 5 days. She kept reassuring me that they would work with me on the price. When it finally got down to returning the car (so that I wouldn't incur any more expense) she told me I would be charged only half ($125!) their normal fee at an airport near me OR drive an hour north and return it in Brunswick, GA for free. I had no choice but to return it to Brunswick - my sister had to follow me up there and take me back to her home. Mind you - this was all while I was trying to fly home where I needed to get back to work! I talked to Judy again and let her know I returned the car to another Avis office in Brunswick. e again discussed the charges. She still said they would work with me because of the hurricane evacuation. She indicated they were going to charge me for all 5 days and give me a 10% discount. Well, I let her know that I didn't think that was such a deal as the tax alone would be 6%. She said she would talk to the owner (who I think is her husband, though I'm not positive) and see if he could give me a better discount. I had to call her again to have her email me a receipt. I finally got the receipt and was only given 10% as she had originally said. PLUS there were other charges that I have no idea what they were. For example: 8% CRF - $23.76, VLF - $1.94 a day = $9.70 and the aforementioned tax of 6% = $19.83. What is CRF? And VLF?! My discount was only $33.00 and my total bill was $350.29! For a three day rental of their "cheapest" car!! This did not include any insurance on the car, as I have complete coverage with my car insurance company. Therefore my insurance covered the rental car. I don't feel like they worked with me at all! In fact, I feel totally ripped off. I called the Avis customer service and was told there was nothing they could do because the agency on SSI is only a licensee of Avis!! Grr!! If you need to rent a car on St Simons Island airport - please go to Hertz!!
