I didn't like the service or attitude at checkout, although the sales lady in the menswear was great. I didn't have any of their precious coupons, so didn't buy much. The place is understaffed and overpriced unless you use their app, but isn't shopping supposed to be a leisurely joy. That's the experience I want.

Shana had a very nasty attitude when assisting me. She made it seem like I was bothering her and she didn't want to be at work. When u told her a item was 50% off she rolled her eyes. I then requested a supervisor and she still displayed a improper demeanor

This is about my experience with Belk as an employee. I DO NOT recommend working here, if you are in search of employment.I had started working for this on September 30, 2023. My position was as a fragrance associate in this department for 0239 (the Savannah location on Abercorn Street in Ogelthorpe Mall). One of the benefits of working in this department was being allowed to have testers (non-sellable demonstration fragrances) with the permission of the vendor (these people do not work for Belk directly, but the fragrance company - such as Jimmy Choo, Kate Spade, etc). I would regularly be given testers to take home, and it was not unusual for me to take home multiple at a time (between 4 and 5). The vendors would simply write my name on the tester box, a Belk shopping bag, or simply give me the "okay" to take the tester home. There was never any official documenting done to notate the testers removed from the store, and needless to say, I was not the only employee in this department that would take testers home.On December 29, 2023, I closed the store that night, and had removed some testers from the drawers and stock room, an occurrence that at this point was not unusual, as I had done this on MULTIPLE occasions. As I was clocking out for the end of my shift, I was stopped by a guy in asset protection, named Jeff. He asked if I could produce the receipt where I paid for the fragrances. I explained that they were testers and given to me as vendor gratis. He asked if I could show him a "vendor gratis sheet", which allegedly is supposed to be filled out each time an employee is given gratis from a vendor. I politely informed him that I did not know what this was, as I have never seen or been asked for one. This was also not something he could produce. I was taken into his office, along with the closing manager of the night, and asked to make a written statement, which I did. He informed me that it was the corporate headquarters that saw me removing the testers from the drawers and asked him to stop me. I once again explained that I had permission to take the testers, and I have done this several times throughout my employment here, and it had never once been an issue. After I had written my statement, Jeff called his boss, and I was put on a paid suspension. I was informed that the vendor would need to be contacted, to verify what I had said. The vendor reached out to me after she had verified the information on December 31, 2023. The day before, I had called the corporate office to file a complaint, and to get information on who was supposedly watching me on the night in question. Had he or she run the cameras the last 90 days to see that this was a regular occurrence? Could this person see the vendors giving me the testers? I was not able to contact whoever had called the store I worked in, but I was able to file a case.On January 2,2024, at about 1:30 p.m., I was contacted by local human resources representative, Madeline Warren, and informed that I had been terminated due to my taking of the testers being against the company policy. I was confused about this policy and asked "Is this still against the policy if I have permission to take the testers?' She asked, "Permission from who?" to which I replied, "The vendor". Please note, this is the same vendor who needed to verify if I what I was saying about the testers on the night in question was true, which she did do. Ms. Warren stated that she did not want to comment to much on the situation since she was not here the night it happened (she was not). I asked about these "vendor gratis sheets", since this is where I was most confused during the entire process. I did a little research of my own and I have text messages where my coworkers confirmed that vendors have never filled out any "vendor gratis sheets" when allowing them to have fragrances. I also have messages of the vendor who routinely gives me permission to take some tester fragrances, stating that she had never heard of such a document, nor

I like Belk, found some nice things, and the store has a nice selection. I deducted a star because it was extremely hot in the store, which made our visit much shorter than I would have liked.
