My husband lost his ATM card and mine got hacked resulting in both of us needing new cards. On Sunday we called the customer service number and were told to go to the bank so we could get them immediately. At 9am on Monday I went through the drive thru and after some discussion I was told I would receive a call when they were ready. At 2:30 I called for an update and was told that they hadn’t been done but could head that way and they would be done shortly. After 30 minutes of waiting in the drive thru I was told to come back since they still weren’t ready because Tiffany had another customer, even though I had been waiting since 9. It is now 3:20 and I have been waiting for 40 minutes.

As another reviewer has stated, I would rather drive the 15 minutes it takes to get downtown then use this location. I’ve been with this bank for years and had been mostly pleased until my interaction with the employees of the Wilmington Island branch today. Normally everyone is very polite and helpful, but from the moment I walked through the door, there was the distinct impression that my business was not wanted. I was not greeted and the teller had a very sour attitude. Then, the woman that was supposed to help me notarize something was incredibly abrasive and rude. I understand if the bank cannot notarize something if the signature is not that of the person who holds the account with the bank, but there was no reason for me to be spoken to and treated the way that I was today. These are all older women, and I am a young woman and got the impression that they were judging me. I will never return to this branch again except to use the ATM. The service has gone incredibly downhill over the years.

I live 2 minutes away and would rather drive downtown or to Pooler for when I need to speak with someone. 2 Stars for having a close ATM. -3 for when I asked about opening a saving's account the person couldn't be bothered to help me. Told me they couldn't do that even though I have money with FCB. Also got a lovely (sarcasm doesn't translate through text) "what do you want?" when I walked in. Drove downtown and had one set up in a matter of minutes with great customer service and friendly people.

I have been a customer with First Chatham bank for over 10 years and I can't say enough good things about the Wilmington Island branch. The tellers are wonderful and even take time to recognize you, acknowledge you and even get to know your kids' and pets' names (there's only been one who isn't my favorite, but the rest are amazing). I rarely have a huge balance in my account but they never make me feel like my money doesn't matter. Keep doing what you're doing at that branch! (sadly, I have had a few horrible experiences at the Hodgson Memorial branch, but I've also had some great experiences at the downtown branch, so, I guess we can call it balance. I'll just go out of my way to go to the downtown branch if I'm in that neck of the woods and need to do some banking).

When I arrived in Wilmington Island, alone, unfamiliar with necessary services, especially banking needs, I drove down Johnny Mercer and off to my right was a lovely brick bank I now know as "my bank." The smart, clean, simple, well groomed brick building was almost an invitation to visit, maybe even transfer my accounts in from KCMO. Inside was spotless and simple. And just in an eyes line, straight ahead, sat a popcorn machine with neatly lined rows of popped pleasure. My mind screamed in my head "This is the place, go no further." Sometimes I argue with my minds wise encouragements. Sometimes I don't and thank goodness I listened this time. I'm still there as a totally satisfied customer and plan to stay. The ladies, no men, are fine and fun. If you need a professional, simple, totally safe to leave your piles of cash, give them a try and say "Sandy sent me!" I hope you will listen.
