Horrifying hair color and experience with JW Salon, Owner, Averil Hull.
I walked in with blonde hair and was ushered to the door with dark gray hair. She said, “she wasn’t going to charge me and that we weren’t a good fit.” She also said, “ my hair color will turn into what I want in 2 weeks.” “4weeks.”
This “expertise” would have cost me $331.00!
It is my opinion, Averil Hull messed up and did not have the character to admit it nor the talent to correct it!! Beware!
Requested style: I asked for base color to cover gray, darker blonde lowlights to offset with the brighter blonde highlights that naturally brightens in sun. Haircut, as well.
Specialties: Averil Hull is the owner and “quickly advanced her skills as a Blonding Specialist focusing on Foilayage and Balayage.” (Taken from her webpage)
Hair type: Natural wave, normal. So I had been told by previous hairdressers trusted over years at a time.
Cleanliness: Hair from previous client left in chair. Hairbrush pulled from drawer with a big clump of dark, curly hair attached to it. Hair on floor.
Stylist: Averil assistant mixed the colors, foiled with, glossed, washed, and the blow dry. I heard assistant calling loudly a list of colors and amounts to Averil before they entered room together.
During consult She didn’t hesitate to show me on her calculator that all the necessary steps would cost me $331.00. When I asked why the cost is the same on short hair, one pays for experience, expertise…blah blah blah
It is not widely understood when you pay for the owner you get the owner?

This business lacks consent, ownership of their lack of customer safety, and failed to exhibit maturity or empathy when my needs were not heard. As an out queer person I am uncertain of their ability to serve queer populations with inclusive and equitable behaviors. I had been seeing the same stylist for one year when she left and she was amazing. The person they offered me when my stylist left failed to listen to my needs and when the front desk called they failed to honor customer service, trauma responsive behaviors, and spoke down to me in a manner that was deeply unsafe and lacking in accountability.

I went through n to have my dark brown hair brought down to red . She the owner did a ok job. After she was done the roots did not match my hair so we did a second time still not matching the rest of my hair. I paid 600.00 and still my roots didn't match . She did my roots 3 time and still didn't match. The whole time I was there she talked and made plans for a benefit and ignored me. Basically no conversation to speak of . If I were her the owner I would spending time with my customers and not ignore the customer sitting right in front of her. I was no disappointed . Don't waste Yur time with this place . All the hair dressers didn't have there hair done. They looked raggedy and not a good representation of their practice. Don't waste Yur time plus their prices were way too high.

bad customer service truly upset!! Visiting for a wedding, they wouldn't take me after making an appointment 8 weeks ago because I was running 10 min late due to traffic

Beware the contract they have you sign and the associated fee for missing an appointment! I was done dirty by this place- set an appointment and signed a contract, but the day of my appointment, I realized that in their reminder texts, they'd changed the appointment time to 2 hours earlier. Admittedly, I should have caught the discrepancy then and adjusted, but there was no change notice or confirmation of the time. When they texted me to say that they'd be charging me a $125 fee for missing the new appointment time a whole 2 hours before I was expecting to be there, I was only 30 minutes late for the new appointment time (blocked for 3 hours) but they still wouldn't let me come in for a cut and no color (that would take less time)! They were happy to just. I'll t this wildly high fee and not help me. So now, I'm out $150, have no cut, and it's still an hour until my original appointment time. It's a shame because the stylist seemed kind and apologetic for this policy, but now that I know how little consideration they give their clients' needs, I'm glad that I'm going elsewhere for my color and cut. Still rating them a 3, because it wasn't entirely their fault- no idea how their services actually are :/

asked for a middle part and left with possibly the worst haircut of of my life, basically a buzz cut when I left and its a week before Christmas. and very expensive for a mens haircut

My hair has never taken more than one hour to wash, cut, and dry. The woman gave me an estimate for the price of my haircut based on my length, etc. It took over two hours to cut my hair here and the bill was more than she said, based on how long it took her to do

What a fabulous, luxurious experience!! My stylist Liz is so consistently good to me and my hair-I always leave looking like a million bucks! Bonus- I was served a perfect cup of coffee to enjoy during my visit. The greatest Solon with a relaxing environment.

When I tell you I don’t trust anyone with my hair- I mean it. Karlie Nobles will forever be the only one who touches it! I have never walked out of a salon so happy with my hair. She understood exactly what I wanted and DELIVERED. She made me the most beautiful buttery beige blonde that I’ve been dreaming of FOR YEARS. My experience was the epitome of luxury. She even let me order food and eat while she did my hair. Don’t waste your time or your money- go see Karlie!
