The Lucas Theatre For the Arts is a stunning and beautifully restored 1920s theater located in the heart of the city. Visitors can enjoy a half-hour tour and demonstration of the theater's fabulous Wurlitzer organ on Wurlitzer Wednesdays, all free of charge. The theater is home to the renowned Savannah Philharmonic, whose conductor has perfected the acoustics over the years, making it a first-rate performance venue. Theatergoers can also enjoy a variety of concessions, including popcorn, candy, soda, beer, and wine, while taking in the grand, well-maintained atmosphere of the historic building. Despite some concerns about modern-day security, the Lucas Theatre provides a comfortable and affordable entertainment experience for all ages, from the Nutcracker in the winter to movie screenings in the summer.
