Cate came HIGHLY recommended to me, but after my experience, I would not recommend this studio for bridal alterations.I put on the dress, and Cate immediately started saying that this dress (Pronovias designer dress) was "poorly designed" and wouldn't work/would keep falling off my shoulders on my wedding day. I said the dress store seemed confident that it would work and I didn't think the store even had "poorly-designed" dresses but that maybe I should go back to the store if she professionally didn't think the dress would work. She said "well YOU picked the dress." This comment made me feel little and like I picked the wrong dress, which I did not. It's a gorgeous dress, and I'm confident I picked a great one. I replied that she came highly recommended by the store I purchased my dress from and that they seemed confident in her abilities. Her reply was "that's because I'm the best." I replied that if she could not do it, I could take it elsewhere because the dress store was confident it could be done. She then kept measuring and all seemed okay. She made a comment about the dress being very long/lot of fabric. I said "yes, it is very long" to which she replied, "no you're just short." I am 5'3" and love my height, so I don't take offense to this, but I thought it was not a professional comment to make to a client. Someone that might be insecure about their height could be hurt by this.At the end of the appointment, she said I could pick it up in October. My wedding is (not local) in early November. I asked if I could come in sooner to try it on since one of the changes we are making alters the look of the dress and I wanted to see it prior to less than one month out. She advised against it and said it would cost $100 or so more to come try it on earlier. I pushed once more saying I was nervous, but she insisted it would be fine. I said okay, trusting her, and left.As soon as I got to my car, I had knots in my stomach. The more I thought about it, the more I realized this is NOT how a bridal alteration appt should go.I waited about an hour and then went back to Cate and asked for my dress back. She, of course, asked why. I said I found someone else I'd like to use. She pushed once more on why, and I said the same thing again. She said "whatever" and rolled her eyes. I had to pay a small fee for the pinning/time, which I was happy to do in order to get out of that place. For any brides, I would STRONGLY recommend against Cate Lyons studio unless you want to feel bad about your dress selection and feel belittled during the process. You should feel beautiful and treated with kindness. This should be a special/exciting appt.

Horrible, unprofessional business owner! I watched this lady BERATE customers and employees at a neighboring business for sitting near her steps. She caused such a scene. Her work may be good to people in need of her services, but her total disregard for treating people with respect is disgusting.

I took my wedding dress to Cate Lyon to be altered. It was slightly large on me, needed to be hemmed, and needed a bustle. All simple alterations I assumed. After the initial alteration, the plunging neck line of my dress had been altered to reduce the depth of the neck line by bringing up the shoulder straps of the dress too much. I was unhappy with the alteration as it changed the look of the dress. I went back to Cate several days later to address my concerns and ask if she could lower the straps to return the dress to its previous look. To explain what I was wanting, I showed her pictures of the model wearing the wedding dress. She immediately went on the defense and accused me of being nothing more than an emotional bride and told me that something else must be bothering me as it clearly wasn't an issue with the dress. She also informed me that I was absurd for wanting the dress to look like it did on the model because I was in fact NOT a supermodel. She then went further to tell me that if I wanted her to fix it, she would charge me $1000 up front and that it would be my fault when she ruined the dress. Needless to say, I left and went to a different alterations place in Savannah. I once again explained the situation and within a day, my dress was returned to its former glory and looked amazing. In fact, the second alterations woman told me the straps should have never been adjusted in the first place. Cate Lyon was rude, disrespectful, and obviously the wrong choice when it came to alterations for my wedding dress. There are much more capable and professional options in Savannah.
