Don’t recommend using them for a loan at all. Used them to get a truck loan. Was given a pretty terrible interest rate but whatever as I am younger. Was given a 36 month or 48 month option. I picked the 48 months because I wanted the lower payment and I planed on keeping the truck for a while. Turns out the lady selected 36 month anyways even though it was in writing I wanted the 48. She proceeded to process everything without me knowing this and issued everything without consulting me. Not to mention they were awful to try and get ahold of during the whole loan process which ended up taking 3 freaking weeks because they kept screwing something up or failed to reply for 3-4 days at a time. Now if I want to pay anything extra some months or want to pay it off I have to go into a branch 2 hours away from me because I moved just to do that. This is my 3rd loan experience and it’s by far the worst I have ever had. Glad I learned my lesson the first time and now won’t ever use them again.

Teller didn't even say hello or talk to me just assumed I wanted checks deposited rather than cash and didn't answer the call button when I pressed it. Terrible service.

I have been banking with Savannah Bank > South State Bank since 1999. We adored Savannah Bank. I work 9-6 Mon-Fri & can not leave for lunch. Just checked ALL the Savannah branches & found South State is no longer open AT ALL on SATURDAY?!? I have birthday checks I need to cash for my teenaged daughter but it appears I can no longer do that. I had a juvenile account for her when it was Savannah Bank but when South State took over, they converted the account to a fee checking account & before we knew it, all her money was gone and the account was closed. I guess I need to open an account for her somewhere else.

Trying to cash a check in drive through that was from their bank, but made me come in because I don’t have an account with them. When go in I find out they want to charge me $8 to cash it! I’m cashing a check from one of their own customers and they’re going to charge me for it! Ridiculous! I would never do busy with a company that f$&ks people like this place! Don’t do business with these crooks!

Ten years ago, when this was still Savannah Bank, it was a good bank. You were treated like you were a person. Since it was bought by South State the branches in Savannah have changed. Even the tellers that you have seen you for ten years ask to see your ID to make a deposit or do a change order. I made a deposit today and then asked for some fives and ones. I was asked if I had an account at the bank. I literally just made deposit, so yes, I have an account (they only make change for account holders).Years ago, if you had problems with erroneous charges on your card or needed to correct a mistake, you could call up your branch have it handled by a person who knew your name and that you knew. Now you need to deal with an automated phone system for 30 minutes before getting a person who may or may not be able to help you.Same corporate atmosphere as a mega bank, you may as well go with a mega bank that has access to more ATMs and branches across the country. And it makes more sense to deal with an app or ATM than deal with the toneless voice and dead eyes of the tellers. And to whoever reads and responds to these reviews: Please don’t bother. These are first world problems, my opinion is meaningless, and service will only continue to be degraded as banks continue their consolidation.

I opened an account with south state thinking a small local bank would be better than the large banks. I was wrong. Just as greedy as all the other banks. The tellers were not pleasant and the bank manager was very rude.

I do not personally bank here, but I go here to pay on my grandfathers HELOC. The staff knows me by name and they always greet me with a smile. Only had one incident where a teller (I think she was new). Had trouble trying to process a principle only payment for me and I had to come back to get it properly adjusted.
