Had my Yamaha R8 receiver gone through back in the early 90s. Brought it back in last week for a repair, but there were too many issues to make it worth the repairs.Bernie had an immaculate R9, and offered that as a replacement for the amount that was originallyquoted for my R8 repair.Yes, he has stopped accepting new units for the time being. Why take on work when you know you can't deliver to the customer on time? Or would you prefer he lie to you?Want your baby repaired correctly? SD is your best bet.

Benny and his wife are amazing, I purchased a Pioneer SX-1050 from a guy on Reverb in Ormand Beach FL in December 2021, picked it up in January 2022. I also swapped out my Techniques turntable for his Kenwood turntable. It was great listening to my old Albums, on my Bose 901’s and 301’s. That lasted for about 2 months and the receiver quit outputting audio, it went into Protection mode. I searched around to find someone to work on it, since I paid a nice price for this receiver, $1600 for the receiver and the turntable. I wanted to find someone who I felt comfortable with, after a few calls to Jacksonville and Charleston,I finally found Stereo Doctors in Savannah to do the repair!! They were booked for months, but Benny found a way to fit me in. Benny was absolutely amazing, he worked on the Pioneer for a few months to make sure it was completely repaired. I’m now back to spinning my LP’s listening to that awesome music.. if you are fortunate enough to get your equipment in his shop you won’t regret it.. he is slammed with work.. which only means he knows what he is doing.. I’m a fan!! They are way more than just a 10!!!!. Thanks man hope to see you guys soon!!

This is a magical place if you're an audiophile. My Klipsch RP-280F tweeters stopped producing sound, and I expected was looking at a $50-300 repair. They seemed very busily at work, but took the time to understand what issue I was having. I am a physician by trade and what I experienced was essentially a medical interview about my speaker. After some poking and diagnostics (speaker still in the trunk of my car), they gave me the solution! AND the guy said no charge and went back to his business like it was no big deal! I also can't say enough nice things about the front receptionist, very kind! They got some vintage CDs, records, and AV equipment in there as well. If you're the kind of guy that goes to thrift stores looking for this stuff, there's a gold mine waiting for you!

There is no choice. This is the place. This is the only place within 120 mile radius that I would trust my audiophile equipment with. Trustworthy and 4+decades of experience. They can fix things that leave others baffled. Just don't expect a fast turnaround. Like a good meal, these things take time.

Finding someone who can service vintage stereo equipment is a challenge here! Though I would have to send power amp back to Binghamton (70 lbs.), but after research found Stereo Doctors. Nothing fancy but nice people who were very familiar with this 60-year-old piece of equipment and repaired at a very fair price.

OMG!!! This guy is great!!! I have a Technics SL1200 and my tone arm was bad. (I had tried to fix it myself!) I live in Beaufort SC and figured Guitar Center in Savanna would be able to help. No!!! Luckily I came across these guys and thank god I did!!! My botch job was a pretty big one and they almost gave up. They were determined though, and after a couple weeks of trying on and off they were able to succeed!!!! Yay!!! I don’t know if you know much about the 1200s but the anti skate and pitch are critical for these old tables especially if you dj. I would recommend this guy over and over again!!!

I have a Sony A/V receiver that I think the optical inputs went out. I called this store and spoke to a man who was very helpful but also informed me they no longer work on Sony equipment. He also has a cable that I may have to buy if I don't have one. He gave me a few suggestions to try. I called back a few hours later to ask a question after trying some things he suggested.A lady answered the phone and I explained to her I spoke to a man and tried some of his suggestions but I have a question. She told me he has helped me all he can and wouldn't even deal with me. So much for good customer service. I guess I will go to the big box store and buy my cable from them.

I still have the JBL speakers I bought from Bernie over 30 years ago. They still sound great and are worth more now than when I bought them. I always had great experiences with SD. I found their passion for what they do to be infectious.

LOL...I laugh at some of the reviews here. I totally agree, if you want your rear end kissed, avoid SD. The owner has little patience for inane behavior. If you have a passion for music and QUALITY equipment and want it repaired to the utmost, definitely come here, because the man is an expert in the truest sense of the word. Before I discovered Stereo Doctors about 40 years ago, I had some components butchered by incompetent "technicians". He has even built parts for some of my equipment. Definitely come here for the best repairs possible!

The rude demeanor of the owner has chased me outside of the city for repairs and purchases in the past. Not recommended.

This is a poor example of “being the only game in town”. I dared taking up 4 minutes of Bennie’s time by calling and asking what he thinks the repair of a specific tonearm/turntable could possibly cost. That was too much of his valued time he became rude and then hung up on me. I was literally going to buy a vintage turntable from him THE SAME DAY if he thought that it wasn’t worth repairing the defective one I had. There was no way that this rude behavior was in any way appropriate. Sadly this is now another win for amazon because that’s where the replacement turntable is now coming from.

This is in response to the last reviewer rating Stereo Doctors a 1 star. I've had nothing but OUTSTANDING service and advice from Bennie and staff at Stereo Doctors over the years. He isn't "the only game in town" but in my personal opinion he is the BEST, that's why he is still in business today. PLEASE don't let this reviewer deter you from Bennie and the excellent staff at Stereo Doctors. ROCK ON BENNIE!

I came in to get my record player fixed and he helped me right away. He was nothing but nice to me. I’m really glad I went in there.
