About Telfair Museums
The Telfair Museums in Savannah offers a variety of cultural experiences across its different sites. The museum features a mix of European and American art from the 19th and 20th centuries, with notable collections housed in the Telfair Academy, a beautiful neoclassical palace. The Jepson Center presents modern art through rotating exhibits, making both buildings must-see for visitors. The museum also includes the Owens-Thomas House, a historic site with interesting tours that highlight the lives of past residents, including the support system involving slaves. The staff are knowledgeable and do a good job explaining the history and features of the house, including interior plumbing and the lifestyle of its inhabitants. The museum is family-friendly, offering hands-on activities in the open art studio that are good for kids. Tickets are valid for a week if visitors stay longer in Savannah, especially with the nearby old museum. The museum's focus on supporting local artists and community makes it a meaningful place to visit. While the admission fee is considered high by some, a combination ticket for multiple sites provides good value. Visitors also enjoy the on-site cafe, although some dishes, like the roasted mushroom, can be very salty. Ice cream options are popular, especially the chocolate flavor with pecan topping. Overall, Telfair Museums is a highlight of Savannah’s cultural scene, combining art, history, and family-friendly activities.

Beautiful museum. The Telfair Academy is a neoclassical Palace with an amazing collection, while the Jepson Center is more modern with rotating exhibits. Both buildings are a must see for Savannah visitors.

There are multiple buildings/locations, not just a single space. Lots of exhibits with wide areas. I visited back in January 2020 when there were interactive displays and a giant cloth whale showcase.
