It seems to be a trend at several Five and Below locations where cashiers are required to use the self-checkout register, no longer allowing customers to check out themselves due to theft concerns. However, this practice is degrading and unwelcoming, as it forces the cashier to turn their back while checking out customers. If this is necessary, why not use the traditional register to provide a more face-to-face and pleasant customer experience?

Called before I traveled there to buy a specific item. Was told they had it in stock and would put my name on it and hold for me. Got there within 30 minutes. They didn't have the item. Never did. Drove there for nothing.
