Husband & I went in to open an account. They said they had to do a credit check,ok no problem. Well it turns out that if you do not have any open credit after 7 years the Credit Bureau gets rid of you. Bet if I had bad credit We would still be in the credit bureau. Since no credit we would have to pay $10.00 a month service fee, ok no issues we will pay the fee, so we set up the account. I closed my other bank account. Then when I tried to go online to set up bill pay I could not get into the account. So next day I called Then I am told "Oh you dont have privileges since you dont have credit". She could have told us that before we opened the account and b4 I closed the other account I had at another bank. This Totally SUCKS. She could have explained this first and we would not have opened the account. This has given me a different outlook. 40 plus years we made sure bills were paid first and had excellant credit. Finally got to a position where Everything is paid for including house and now we can just bank our funds but since I am no longer in debt with bills we are punished. So this bank will not have my $ to make interest off of it. I have to take a day off work so we can go find another bank that we have check & bill pay, we do have debit card but everyone knows how great that card is. So NO We will not recommend this credit union to anyone. And If I knew the CB would kick you out I would have said Years Ago screw the bills. Bet we would still there if we had bad credit.

The staff is great, very helpful and nice but the wait time for everything is terrible, almost always at least 5-10min wait before speaking to someone. The # you call for the debit card is terrible. Half the time it says, I cannot help you and ends the line.

Went to the bank on my lunch break. (30min) Pulled up with one car ahead of me. Waited 15min. Car ahead of me leaves, I pulled up to the teller. Sent in a check written on that bank and my ID. Waited another 5min. Lady comes over the system. Hello, do you have an account with us? I replied, no ma'am, and I know about the $5 charge to cash the check because i don't have an acct with you all. Also, I've been waiting for more than 15min, you haven't started on it yet? She replied, I was researching to see if you had an account with us. My thoughts, why didn't you just ask? Anyways, she then proceeds to ask for another form of ID? To which I replied, I sent my license to you. She states, yes but we have to have two forms of ID. Me: To cash a check, written on your bank? Just send my check and ID back and I'll go to my own bank.I stopped at Georgia's Own because the check was written on that bank and it was closer than my own bank and given I only get 30 min to grab food and be back at work, figured it would be quicker. Boy, I was so wrong!Dissatisfied to say the least!

After a recent merger, was sent new debit cards. Tried to activate the cards and the system wasn’t working. After trying multiple times, I called the branch. After being on hold for 23 minutes, I explained the situation to the person that answered the phone. I was told that there were a lot of issues with the merger and asked if I would like to be transferred to card services. I agreed thinking that this would be an actual person who could activate the debit cards. No, it was the same number that was not working. Called back again and after being on hold for over another 20 minutes, the person said they would transfer me to an actual person that could help. On hold again for a long time and call disconnected. Not happy with this credit union on day one. I understand that there will be issues when a merger takes place but something this small should not be an issue. If this bank can’t handle this small issue, makes me doubt their ability.

So, the GA's Own in the Atlanta area are completely 100% worthless, and these guys beat that. At least the locations in Atlanta have a machine that counts change and then the CU gives you your money back, and a paper shredder bin. Not at this location nothing they just want your money and for you to leave them the heck alone. If you are able to get someone on the phone you should get a Bin Ladenesque reward. Their phone system should just say thank you for calling GA's own and disconnect. I've had an account with them since 1995 and I keep just enough in it to keep the account active. Do yourself a HUGE favor and put your money somewhere; anywhere else. They don't care and they don't mind letting you know they don't care.

I have banked with united 1st FCU for almost 13 years. I also bank with another credit union. United is by far the best experience. They have the kindest people, they go above and beyond to help you. When I move I plan to continue using this credit union
