I'd give 10 stars for my recent experience with Ian Robbins and the Beltmann moving group. I've moved 5 times with my company, and the experience with Ian & Beltmann was by far the best experience ever - not even close. Ian & Beltmann consistently went above and beyond any expectations. Here's why:
- Ian did what he said he would do - always. That may sound simple, but I’ve had dozens of times where initial contacts are filled promises and soon afterwards, communication gets less and the experience isn’t nearly what was promised. That didn't happen and it's s clear Ian is a man of his word, and in this day and age, is something I've learned is something to never take for granted.
- Ian made me feel like a priority customer -always. I’m downsizing, and the amount of contents I moved wasn't large, but Ian made me feel like I was the most important customer he had.
- Ian communicated consistently throughout the process. He listened and explained things to me so I always knew what was going on - reducing my stress.
- Ian promised a top-tier crew - and he delivered on that promise too. I have some antiques, and the crew, led by Luck, showed great care in handling them. They were professional, careful and helpful on both ends of the move. They were uber-impressive!!!
- Finally, the office staff proactively communicated with me throughout the move and I always knew where we were in the process.
Ian Robbins & Beltmann made my moving experience the best, least stressful move possible. I'll gladly recommend them to anyone with 100% confidence they'll have the same incredible experience I had.

Pick up and drop off crews were outstanding. The driver, Lionel Taylor, was very professional, while also being personable. Absolutely no damage to walls in both houses and no damage to any of my belongings. Leketha Morris, my customer service coordinator, was fantastic. I highly recommend North American Van Lines.

Salesperson was knowledgeable, professional and personable. Went out of his way to supply boxes at the end that I needed. Great follow up. The actual movers were outstanding!! Toni and her crew were fabulous! No one told them they needed a shuttle truck at the end. Sunday, Labor Dsy weekend they got it done!! Figured it would be Tuesday when they could deliver. They got it done on Sunday in a very reasonable time frame. Nothing broken, everything accounted for. What’ a great crew!!!!
With everything now a days, had a little sticker shock on the cost.
Overall, a very good experience.

We had to move a large household and 2 cars from one coast to the other. For background, we’ve moved multiple times domestically and internationally with the military so we knew what to expect. Our salesman (Ian) was great and the #1 reason we went with North American despite them not being the cheapest. I think he genuinely cares about doing a good job and treating customers right. We had a number of “what ifs” and Ian always quickly and professionally responded to my questions and helped me figure out the best way to make the move happen.
That said, it wasn’t all smooth.
1). The packing crew (who was supposed to be one of the best) did a substandard job and packed our boxes too heavy (as confirmed by the unloading crew at the destination) and poorly labeled things. The lead packer liked to take 2 boxes and make 1 super box by taping them together. Really weird and risky. Our 30 yr old china was buried in a 120 lb box with a ton of other kitchen stuff. Also, they left way too much packing for the crew that was supposed to load the truck. Ultimately the packing crew was undersized and poorly trained.
2). The night before our load was to be picked up, I got a call asking if they could delay from Friday to Monday because there was a problem with the cross country driver. This was a no-go for us so they had to sub a “local driver” that would pick up. It solved the immediate problem but meant that our stuff had to be transferred from one truck to another. I’d worked with Ian to prevent that because I wanted our stuff handled as little as possible.
3) They also tried to compensate for the poor packing crew by getting us a really good load crew. The crew was large (a father and 3 sons plus the driver) and they certainly worked hard and but several of the sons smelled like weed and I’m pretty sure one was smoking weed on lunch break. They also did a poor job of saving the bed hardware so one of our beds couldn’t be reassembled at destination.
4) Because North American didn’t have a cross country driver, they ended up selling the job to Allied for the cross country haul. This resulted in some of the details being lost and ultimately an undersized unloading crew. Thankfully, the unloaders and the driver were hard working (driver was a beast) and dealt with a tough situation as well as could be expected. There was a little griping but it was understandable.
We are now digging out from the mountain of boxes and I haven’t noticed that anything significant was lost (#1 priority) and things seem to have arrived in good condition (#2 priority). I’ll edit if that proves not to be true.
All in all, something like this is pretty tough to pull off perfectly but I think North American’s size helped them to recover from problems as well as I could’ve hoped.

The initial pitch was great. Ian was engaging and made sure that I would be taken care of. He helped me with boxes and with some packing supplies, which made the beginning of the experience really good. The overall impression was that they were slightly disorganized. I did not get notified as to my ETA for my belongings; I regularly reached out to them until they gave me an ETA. Plus, I was asked a couple times as to what my destination address would be.

If you have to move, North American Van Lines are the movers to use! Really great experience from start to finish. Ian (Sales) explained the process thoroughly so we knew exactly what to expect, and the guys who wrapped our furniture and did the heavy lifting protected every item and finished without a nick to our walls. Same with the unloading in our new home … furniture arrived in tact and walls not touched. Everyone was completely customer focused … truly a great experience!

Great experience. First time using a moving company, and was nervous at first, but North American made it easy. Ian's customer service is outstanding and was a big reason we went with North American. Would certainly use if we had to relocate again.
