We found Kennedy Creek last September and have been back twice since then. The setting is absolutely beautiful with direct views of the mountains and sprawling grounds where the resort sits. They offer everything from tent camping and yurts, to beautiful cabins. We’ve tent camped once and brought our RV twice. If you’re camping, expect spacious campsites with amazing views. You won’t feel crowded in this place. If RVing, you can opt for a site with electrical hookup but they don’t have water or plumbing yet. They do have showers so we didn’t come close to filling our gray/black tanks on our recent 5 day stay. What I like as an RVer is the open space and views. You won’t feel like you’re in a crowded RV park that’s for sure. The resort also has a 2000’ x 60’ grass runway (GA87) which is absolutely gorgeous. In my opinion this should be a bucket list destination for all pilots that can manage to get in to 2000’ fields. One of the owners has a beautiful “Just” bush plane and he can usually be found flying most Saturday and Sunday mornings. The staff is super friendly and will take great care of you during your stay. It won’t take long for you to realize that they absolutely care about you and your experience. They’ll go out of their way to make sure you enjoy their little slice of paradise. This probably sounds like a paid advertisement but I’m just a happy camper that hopes this place experiences the success it deserves. I’ve been to Ellijay, Helen, Blairsville, Dahlonega, and a lot of other well known mountain spots, and this place is my favorite by far.Nearby activities: Kennedy Creek sits in a beautiful valley that gives you access to some of the best hiking, biking, fishing, and site seeing that the Georgia mountains has to offer. If you’re looking for a mountain retreat you won’t be disappointed.Food & drinks: The food is excellent. We’ve had everything from prime rib, cassoulet and tasty pasta dishes, to wings and burgers. Being able to stay away from the crowded mountain cities is a real treat and to find a place with good food and full bar is a major selling feature.

Let me preface this by saying that we stayed here during the Christmas weekend. Everyone deserves to spend the holidays away from work and with their families. However, with the kind of money we spent for this stay, we were left wanting much much more from value.Positives:The rooms were very cozy, and private. The restrooms were comfortable and warm. The property is vast and beautiful.Negatives:Check-in: Non-existent. There was no communication about the process or instructions beforehand. The property was left completely unattended and we had to let ourselves into the rooms.Restaurant: Was closed for the holidays, which meant that we did not even have a chance to ask for some water.Amenities: There were none. No soap, no drinking water, no extra towels, no firewood, nothing. We had to go shopping for necessities the next day.Security: we ended up feeling very unsafe because, again there was LITERALLY NOBODY to take care of the property, and we kept seeing people drive in, drive around, use the bathrooms, etc.Property Setup: This is nothing about the service or the staff itself, but the restroom facilities are in a different building from our cabins, which meant that on the day that it rained heavily, we were not able to go use the restroom for a while in the morning, since it was dark, rainy and muddy, and also meant that when we were able to go there, ALL of our belongings were completely covered in muck.

My wife and I took a spontaneous trip to northeastern Georgia to visit Dahlonega, Blood Mountain on the Appalachian trail, and surrounding areas. We had planned to stay at Kennedy Creek at a no electricity lot where we would set up a tent. However, the weather turned bad, it was forecasted to rain a lot, and temperatures were dropping. We asked the staff if we could upgrade our stay to a yurt and were very quickly and very kindly accommodated. Though the weather outside was cold and rainy we were warm, comfortable, and dry inside the yurt. The facilities were nice and speaking with the staff and other guests made us feel at home with other hikers and travelers. I cannot say enough good things about our stay! We will be back!Nearby activities: Kennedy Creek is located at a great spot not far from many hiking trails and downtown Dahlonega itself. We visited Dahlonega, Helen, and Cavender Creek Winery after hiking Blood Mountain via Byron Reece.

Kennedy Creek is such a cozy, camping culture spot! Super laid back, like you're hanging out with friends. Located in a beautiful little valley with lovely mountain views. Watching dogs and kids run in the field while the sun shines on you in your Adirondack chair. Special to see a plane take off and land! So quiet and great starry sky views. Tent camping, yurts, cottages, and cabins. Choose your level of comfort. Hang out on "the porch" and have meals cooked to order. 25 minutes from downtown Dahlonega. What a hidden gem!

Getting to our destination was a little scary. We've been living in Florida for too long and forgot what it's like driving over a mountain. We definitely had white knuckles. ?? The yurt was smaller on the outside than we thought, but once inside it was really roomy. Unfortunately the heater kept blowing a fuse and they had to move us to a cabin. We had our 2 dogs and it was very dog friendly. Everyone was so nice, Kacey, Jonetta (Bartender) and John (Chef) were awesome. Perfect area to relax, enjoy nature. We will be back. ❤️ The highlight was meeting Southern Stangs Georgia, who so graciously let us take photos of our son, Christian, (who passed away this past Christmas) with their cars. We had his ashes with us. Christian was a car guy and loved Mustangs.Nearby activities: Some of the most beautiful picturesque views I've seen in a long time. Waterfalls and state parks close by. Lots of hiking.Food & drinks: Food was delicious. Restaurant on site. We were there for dinner and then an incredible breakfast buffet the next morning.

Worst dining experience in the north Georgia mountains. Service: completely terrible and essentially nonexistent. Food: what little our table was served after an hour and a half wait....inedible. Three of our party of five ordered a Cajun shrimp/andoulie pasta that was HORRIBLE. Worst andoullie (I'm guessing it was budget kielbasa with some cayenne pepper dumped on it) imaginable. The shrimp was incredibly over cooked and could have easily been mistaken for curly erasers. Two of the three guests couldn't eat it. The other guest ate it due to medical issues depicting regular meals be consumed. The guest did not like it at all, but it beat going into a coma. The remaining two guests ordered a roasted quail entrée and a rainbow trout entrée. After an hour and a half wait, neither guest received their meals. No salads were ever served. No bread. We had to CONSTANTLY beg for ice water. When we finally said enough is enough, the cook and I'm guessing the manager started with the LAME excuses. The joint wasn't busy at all, so no cutting them slack for that.We finally paid for our beverages and got the hell out if that clip joint, NEVER to return. It was one of the worst dining experiences that any of us ever had, anywhere from decades of coast to coast travel. And we're locals!Avoid this pitiful excuse for a restaurant. Drive on up to Blue Ridge or down to Dahlonega and hit Taco Bell or McDonald's. Your dining experience will be tons more rewarding that this place.

Safety advisement:While staying on the resort, I was attacked by two pit bulls who ran under the fence from an adjacent property. Fortunately, I know how to engage aggressive animals and was unharmed. However, when I reported the incident to the staff, they were aware of the dogs and had similar incidents but had done nothing to create any barriers between the resort and the adjacent property. I received an apology and was told a call was made to the dog owners, but my safety on the property was not assured.

One of the most beautiful, laid back places I’ve ever stayed. The cabins are so cozy and the staff is the most friendly. The property…wow!?

Safety concern. I stayed at Kennedy Creek with a group. Several things went poorly, but the my biggest concern is safety. While on a walk on a gravel road that runs along the property, two pit bulls from an adjacent property run under the Kennedy Creek property fence and charged me. Fortunately, I know what to do when charged by aggressive dogs and was unharmed. However, the owners and employees of this resort know about the dogs, knows the dogs are aggressive and have done nothing to prevent the dogs from coming on their property (ie, no fences or other structures to keep the dogs out). Be advised that your safety may be at risk while staying on this property.

The food was great! The view was fantastic. We are local so we didn't stay at the resort. We just went there for dinner. The view is a long view across the field and airstrip to the mountains. Lovely anytime of year, but stunning with fall color. Very dog friendly, and in the early evenings at dinner there is a peaceful welcoming community vibe.

We tent camped Labor Day weekend and had a wonderful time. Staff is super friendly and the Tavern is great! We will definitely go back.
