My car was 10 years old, but Audi hadn’t changed the body type, it was running great, and I loved it, so I decided to have it painted to feel like a newer car. I took it to this Maaco, and I sooo wish I hadn’t. First of all, the first time I brought it in, they kept it for over 6 weeks, with no explanation as to why they hadn’t finished sooner. When I would call, they never answered the phone. The paint color came out lighter than I thought it would look, but I liked it, so I took the car home.
At home, I noticed a bunch (maybe 8?) of little mistakes — areas that hadn’t been taped properly, or little spots that hadn’t gotten painted… that kind of thing. But you had to really be looking for mistakes to see them.
Five months later, my car — which had only been driven probably 4000 miles since it was painted, had several little chips in the paint. When I took it back to have them addressed, I was told only bubbles and peeling paint were warrantied, but they wanted me to be happy, so they would give me a discount on the new work. They said it would be done in a couple of days. Again, when I called, my calls went unanswered. Finally, I got ahold of the manager who told me that they ended up repainting the entire car, which was why it was taking longer. They did not charge me for that.
When I got it home, it looked slightly darker and more finished with a slightly different sheen. I think they screwed something up the first time, and fixed it the second time, which is why they had to paint the entire car again.
Then three months later, I discovered a new chip. There was no associated dent. I took it back. They fixed it at cost after a heated argument. In ten years, the paint on my car had never chipped, and in 10 months their paint job had chipped in about 6 different places. I asked them what recourse I had if it happened again, and they explained (in a defensive, bitchy tone) that chips weren’t covered by the warranty.
All in all, I spent about $2500 for their shoddy work, and my car was at their shop for over 2 cumulative months in less than a year. Their attitude is terrible, their product is garbage, their warranty doesn’t appropriately cover their garbage product, and they’ll keep your car for months. I wish I had just gotten a wrap, and NOT at their shop.

The paint job turned out decent despite getting my truck back 1 week later than promised and that some one drove all my fuel out of the vehicle and left it at 'E'. The price was more than the website indicated. There were blemishes in the paint finish that I can live with. They were not eager to correct them.

It would mean a lot if we were provided accurate updates on our vehicles. I am currently 3 weeks in waiting for my car that they said would be ready a week ago. I hesitate to call for another update because of the false promises and bs updates. It is very frustrating.
