Tybee Island lighthouse is a nice place to visit. The history of the lighthouse, the forts built around it, and the cockspur lighthouse is interesting, and the lighthouse is still operational! The lighthouse, Fort Screen, and the Tybee Island Marine Science Center are all in the same lot. The lighthouse is currently undergoing some renovations so check on that because the view from the top of the lighthouse is worth the walk up.

They are currently restoring the lighthouse until spring so note that they have dropped their prices slightly because of this. There was still plenty of things to walkthrough and see on the property. We really enjoyed viewing the artifacts, restored property and learning a bit about the history of the Tybee area. The staff was very friendly and willing to answer any questions we had. It was a very windy day so not much time was spent on the top of the fort but the view was incredible. They do have a small gift shop and we made sure to purchase and tip. Tips go towards the lighthouse fund so a great way to support preservation of history.

I went awhile back. We rented a golf cart and drove it here. There were plenty of parking spots. Admission was $12 for an adult. Your ticket includes both the light station and Battery Garland across the street. The light station has 178 steps and no elevator. However, they do have rest areas. It’s worth a visit to get to the top and look out. Impressive views. Museum was small but it’s still cool to see. When it reopens, I recommend coming in the morning or week days. Only a certain amount of people can go up at a time.

I love love love lighthouses as was our first stop of the day. Sadly I was unable to climb the steps therefore I took a picture from the parking lot. I am disabled, walking is a challenge and a few stairs can be managed but never ever all those. So sad of all those I've visited, walked the grounds, never has it been an option to climb .... and I was heartbroken to miss the opportunity. I will visit again sadly from afar I will love her

An entry ticket here includes both a climb on foot to the top of a reasonably impressive lighthouse as well as a separate museum across the street. The signage suggests that you can't park at their lot and then walk to the beach, but I don't know how they'd ever enforce that given that you have to walk between the two ticketed sites and the route to the beach is right there, but the island's typical parking fees were not in effect for the holiday I visited anyway. The lighthouse offered several viewing platforms on the way up, as well as a rather narrow outdoor platform at the top. The view was nice, but this was not great for my fear of heights so it was a brief stay at the top for me. The museum inhabits one section of an old bunker, other parts of which are variously private businesses or abandoned. The space is thus atmospheric, but cramped, and not a great space to share with small children given how noises echo. The history of the island covers pirates, colonialism, the Civil War and several other subsequent military efforts, and its eventual transition into a vacation spot. There's a lot of interesting stuff there. The cost of a ticket was per person, and I wouldn't call it unmissable, but it is worth a look.

Rating: Killah! This is truly a remarkable step back in time. You'll get to experience and learn about lighthouse life for those who worked them night and day. The families were required to operate this lighthouse which was eye opening. Each family had their own home at the lighthouse. You'll get to see it all. Come prepared to take 188 steps up to the top.
