I booked a property over the phone with TVR for the Thanksgiving holiday. Upon checking in, I was met with a giant dead roach in a windowsill that was fully visible and clearly had been there a while. The property (Guiding Light) had a private pool. The pool area was covered in pine straw, the chair cushions and patio chairs were in disarray, the sheet on the cabana bed mattress had visible mildew/mold, and the pool itself was covered in debris along the bottom. I spoke with Ashley who was pleasant but said the only option was to send someone out to clean the pool. I declined as I felt I should not have to interrupt my trip to allow maintenance at the house when the property should have been clean upon arrival. I was denied a refund of any portion of the cleaning fee. Hey, no problem, whatever.Fast forward and I call to book a beachfront property over the New Years Eve holiday. The website was allowing me to book three nights, but I called to book over the phone to see if there was any kind of frequent guest discount (there is, 5%). Ashley had trouble with her computer and asked to call me back. She told me later that the minimum stay was actually 5 nights and the website was wrong. Though this property (Tybee Southern Bell) was extremely expensive, I agreed to extend to five days so I could book the property. This brought the total to over $3k for five nights. Ashley again put me on hold to consult with a manager and came back to tell me the price online was actually wrong and they needed to figure out the correct price. I confronted her about why I was being given such a hard time about booking, and began to feel like I was being discriminated against for being a single female. I felt like they suspected something was shady with me being the only guest. I was then transferred to Katie who said it was actually the property owner that was denying to price and that their hands were tied. I told her this was hard to believe considering it all happened in real time, and it seemed far fetched to think someone called to ask permission from the property owner when they are the company managing the booking. Meanwhile, I went ahead and booked the property on their website and signed the rental agreement electronically. I received a call the next morning telling me the booking would be cancelled because the owners were going to be staying in the house during the holiday. If you’re keeping track, they went from saying the nightly minimum was wrong, so I agreed to extend it, then they said the price was too low, then the story changed to the owners were going to be staying during that time frame. This is completely unprofessional and shady business practices to treat a guest like this, especially one who was willing to spend over $3k for just a few nights stay AFTER having already had an unpleasant experience at another unit. I think they suspected something was weird with the booking (there wasn’t - I’m a single female and am new to the area) and were trying to find any reason to deny me the property. As a result, they breached a signed rental agreement that they themselves sent me.I will never book from TVR again and would dissuade everyone from doing the same.

We have used Tybee Vacation Rental company 3 times in the past year . We have stayed at 5 O’clock Somewhere , The Breeze Inn and Once Upon a Tide . All 3 stays were great . I have read through some of the negative reviews and have I not experienced anything what other people have when it comes to the customer service of TVR. In fact, we experienced the opposite . They have been more than accommodating. If we had a problem with the property, they were out in less than 15 minutes on most of our calls . We loved every location and what is advertised is what you get . We will keep renting from them . My only wish is that they had a loyalty program . See you again very soon !

Bring Your Quarters! We stayed in Bech Racquet b208 in October. extremely small, and what's with all the annoying doors. Trees are overgrown that you can't view the beach from the balcony. Worst of all, they charge for you to wash your laundry! Yes, a coin laundry. Very expensive for this s--- hole.

We called to make a reservation. The representative did not tell us that our 3rd floor rental did not have an elevator. I don't believe, in 2023, that it's unreasonable to expect to have an elevator. I also think that's pretty relevant information to state over the phone. When we realized this, we called to ask to be moved. We didn't care where, we're senior citizens and we don't need to be carrying huge luggage up and down 3 flights of stairs. Actually, the least they could have done is offer help with the heavy lifting, but no. They did not. They didn't care. I will never use this rental company again. The condo itself was nice enough, but the lack of an elevator was miserable for us. On a side note, a few years ago at this same property but in another building, the elevator was broken. We had rented from Oceanfront Cottage Rentals. Not only did they put us in an upgraded property, they sent a crew to move our stuff out of the condo and into the other property. I regret not renting from them this time.

My girlfriends and I stayed at 'Our Happy Place' vacation rental on Tybee Island for a weekend getaway. We rented the property through Tybee Vacation Rentals. The property is marketed in a misleading way. We were very disappointed with the property overall. The website pictures are deceptive. The home is dated and is in need of an overall facelift. The plumbing system is loud and clangy. When flushing the toilet on the lower level there was a loud knocking sound every time. There was also exposed, rusty plumbing in this bathroom. My bedroom was on this level and had wood paneling. It reminded me of a sauna when I first walked into it and it did not disappoint. The room was hot and humid with no ceiling fan. The A/C did not flow into this bedroom. It was so hot in there that the room was unusable and I had to sleep on the couch in the living room area for the entirety of my stay. Our expectations were high due to the price that we paid to stay here, which was around $500/night.We were definitely underwhelmed. I plan on vacationing on Tybee Island again. The area is lovely with a beautiful coastal vibe. I would NOT rent this property again, nor would I recommend it to friends or family. It is overpriced and the quality is just not there. Additionally, I will use an alternative vacation rental/management company the next time, as it appears that Tybee Vacation Rentals has no interest in providing customers with the excellence and quality that they have paid for.

Do not rent from this company. It’s so upsetting to have to write this review when we still actually are supposed to have 3 days left of our vacation. We were renting during Hurricane Idalia. Prior to the storm, wires went down in front of our rental property and we lost power. We stuck out the night in hopes of power returning quickly the next am. As the sun began to beat through the windows that do not open- we reached out to the power company who told us that the property management company would need to get updates since we’re not the owners of the property. We contacted Tybee Vacation Rentals, explained our situation and concerns regarding having very small children in a house with no AC/power. We were told by someone in the office that she was a single mom and her kids have lived without AC for days and that we should either deal with it or leave.Prior to losing power, the ductless unit in the living room barely worked, we had an ant infestation in a bedroom, and once it started raining water was pouring through the living room ceiling onto the couch which made us wonder, how much dirty water had already been pooling on that couch during other storms that our family had been sitting on.We received not a single bit of customer service or understanding for our situation. We spent over 7k on this rental. If this happened at a hotel, there would be so many accommodations offered. We were offered nothing, if anything it was brushed off as not their problem. We were told to check out if it was so bad which is exactly what we did. Gave up 3 days of vacation on Tybee because Tybee Vacation Rentals has no customer service. They may be great to their owners but certainly not the renters. There are other rental companies! Rent from them! Give yourself the peace of mind- do not rent from this company (the pink sign properties!).

DO NOT STAY WITH TYBEE VACATION RENTALS (the company with the pink signs and the sun logo!) We paid 7k for a vacation home for a week, halfway through the week we lost power for two days, the roof was leaking (POURING water onto the couch), the windows don't open and there was an ant infestation, the AC unit downstairs also didn't work BEFORE the power outage. We called the company multiple times to see if they could help us since there was no ac and no air ventilation because the windows were all sealed shut plus a very leaky roof. The company told us our best option was to LEAVE without any kind of refund or any other options!! The customer service rep told us she is a single mom who lived without electricity for a few days so since she could manage without electricity, we can too. The craziest part is when we called them multiple times for help, they lacked ANY sort of kindness or empathy. Their tone was rude and off putting. If you pay over 7k for a vacation rental the very LEAST that you should expect is to speak to someone level headed when you call customer service. When we were forced to check out (3 days early), we told them we couldnt do the laundry since we have no power.. and instead of them saying don't worry about it, they said "we will check with the manager to see if that's ok." Not sure where they expected us to wash the laundry without any power. Honestly the list of issues goes on, the pool was filthy when we got there too, and they also advertised a signed book from the author Mary Kay Andrews (it's her house that you're renting) and we never got that either. Both my husband and I run businesses and we could never imagine treating customers this way. DO NOT RENT A VACATION HOUSE WITH THIS COMPANY! In addition, they never documented our check out when we called them. We got a text today reminding us to check out tomorrow even though we checked out yesterday. I also see tons of angry customers online on platforms like Tik tok, saying they had REALLY bad experiences. Save yourself the trouble and use another rental company. Just awful and so sad that we're losing thousands of dollars (they offered 0 reimbursements for the horror they put us through) and cutting our vacation short with two kids, and a family that rarely gets to see each other. This was also supposed to be our dogs last vacation too because she has cancer. They don't care about their customers and their homes are absolute trash. Stay far away!

I wrote a review for TVR's "Castaway Cottage" vacation rental, but my review did not get posted so I am repeating it here. I rented Castaway Cottage for one week in mid August 2023. The cottage is adequate and in a good location within walking distance of the beach, but the exterior is poorly maintained and the interior has some dated features with mediocre, sparse furnishings. The exterior from the picture showed a nice grassy fenced in backyard, however, the reality is the backyard has barely any grass, and is poorly maintained with mostly patches of dirt and weeds. The fire pit was more of an area ashtray full of old cigarette butts ( no one in my party smokes) . The exterior staircase had peeling paint and looked dingy. The front and back yards were in dire need of some minimal landscaping at best. The lower level screened in porch was full of small stones blown blown in from the adjacent driveway because there is a gap under the screen door and it had a dingy old area rug and less than comfortable older wooden sofa with some cushions. The lower bedroom was nice, but unfortunately, it has no bathroom and the only access to the bathroom is to walk outside of the house back into the main upper level of the house to use one of two bathrooms. One bathroom in the interior was adequate but dated. The other bathroom, however, was newer and had modern fixtures, beautiful, tiled, walk-in shower, and a lovely double vanity. That unfortunately was the only updated feature of the home. For the money, this cottage is not worth it. I've stayed at other vacation rentals on Tybee Island that were much nicer for a better value. this cottage, however, is pet friendly and a relatively short walk to the beach via ninth Street beach access.

Amy or her "manager" was very rude and unwilling to help after I had already booked she waited a week to contact me to cancel. If you plan on having any "fun" at these locations, think again. They said they do not allow group rentals for my locally owned business wanting to rent their property for 2 days as a work retreat.

We stayed on cloud 9 with Tybee Beach Rentals! We had an amazing vacation! The location of the house was on beach side with direct access to the beach ⛱️ ? The house was clean and cute! The only reason I did not give it a five star was because they only give you enough towels for one per person with no spare, and they were thin and small. Had to do laundry everyday to have a clean towel to shower with and same for kitchen towels only one was available. Also the AC was struggling to keep the upstairs cold, granted it was summer and hot. Other than that it was a fantastic vacation and we will be visiting Tybee again!

We booked Ebb and Flow 1 for four days over Father's Day weekend. The first night, the air conditioner squealing every time it cycled netted me three hours of sleep. They tried to fix it but the next night was the exact same and three hours of sleep again. When they couldn't fix it, I told them I couldn't stay another night with that noise. They gave me a refund of 1.5 days of my 4 nights booked. I respectfully asked for .5 since I was leaving after the second night. They indicated I left after 11:00 so they wouldn't give me that half day (left at 2:00). I left after 11:00 because it was determined by their tech at 11:30 the AC couldn't be fixed for several days. I wrote a letter pleading to do the right thing and give me that other half day back and I didn't get a response from them. I got 6 hours of sleep over 2 days when I was supposed to be on a restful vacation. My stress level was so high when I left there on Father's Day! But not receiving a response to my written appeal to them tells me who I was dealing with all along. Rent at your own risk if you select Tybee Vacation Rental!! Good luck with them. I won't be doing that again.

My family, my parents, and my dogs all enjoyed a 3 night vacation at Sandy Souls. The check-in and check-out process was very easy and we were even able to check-in early! They have an online portal where you can find all kinds of information. They provide a travel guide for the island in the home. This house was very convenient to the beach, gift shops, the sugar shack, and a couple of restaurants. The house had all the essentials we needed as far as linens, cookware, washer and dryer, etc. TVR also provided laundry detergent for a single load of clothes which was nice. We had no maintenance issues and the house was very clean. The fenced-in yard was huge for my dogs. The home was very cozy and our favorite hangout spot was on the balcony patio. I would definitely recommend TVR to friends.

We stayed in Savannah with Tybee Vacation Rentals to celebrate my Father-In-Laws birthday over the weekend of the 4th of July. The home we rented was a beautifully renovated Victorian era home. It was advertised as having 2 off street parking spots which was a huge reason we picked that property since we would have multiple cars. When we arrived the road behind the parking spots had been completely torn out and closed, making parking completely inaccessible. When I asked TVR for help with this I was told to “Just park on the street”. I told them that this was not a permanent solution because 1) There was already limited parking due to others parking on the street, especially with construction workers across the street taking up many of the spots and 2) street parking would be closed all together for street sweepers one of the nights we were there.Following the conversation I was not given any alternatives and their customer service line has completely ignored my messages since.

Booked and stayed at Cherokee Rose in mid June. Every part of the booking process was simple and they allow you to pay in installments, if needed. The property was in great shape and clean upon arrival. It looked like it had just been built. The owner obviously did not go cheap with the furnishings and overall decor. My son loved the saltwater pool when we would return from the beach each day. No doubt we will use Tybee Vacation Rentals in the future for any trips to Tybee Island. Enjoyed every minute that we were there.
