Everything is not always as it seems, there are some evil people in this world,I was a victim of the Blount youth homes scam and was held there against my will and starved and beaten and tortured physically and mentally for about 12 months. I was told I could not use the bathroom and when I was allowed usually once per day I was timed for two minutes and then forced to be done whether I actually was or not, I was timed to take a shower and was not allowed enough time to bathe myself properly, I have had the owner Clint Blount a 70 yr old man along with a gang of other bigger kids trample me to a seizure just about they picked me up 8 ft in the air then dropped me down on my back as hard as they could and then continued to punch and stomp me while I was suffering on the ground. I have seen multiple other kids get beat bad and hurt as well, there was this kid named brandon who got a sick kick out of really hurting people and the owners loved to let him, I watched him take someone’s head on concrete and kept smashing his head on the ground and as the kid was screaming out in agony Brandon was laughing and getting pleasure out of hurting him like that. And one of the owners watched this as well sometimes got the kids to fight each other. Theese people are really really sick and what they do to kids in that place is not humane parents if you actually love your kids and want them to get better please do not send them here you will be putting them in danger and wasting your hard earned money. These people should all be in prison for what they do and how they treat young children. They have had allegations like this presented multiple times that have all been so very true and they are always dismissed because theese sick evil corrupt people know how to finesse the system and you. They had all the kids puy on a special “act when outsiders came on campus and we were threatened with being stuck outside for a long time and beatings and being starved if we did not act a certin way. I am going to fight to make people aware of what really goes on here and if I can at least get one parent to not drop thier kid off to this concentration camp that will be good. Although this place should be shut down and all staff involved should be convicted for thier crimes.

I was in this hell hole for three plus years against my will, if you love your child there are other avenues to get them help instead of placing them with people who will physically and mentally abuse them in order to make it appear that a change has taken place. If you still are considering do a simple Google search on the facility and abuse that has taken place, they were in fact shut down for a period of time by children services while government funded and opened up again as a private facility. My parents apologize to me often for placing me in this what I would refer to as a back woods boot camp which no child should ever be exposed to. Also this is my second review as the first was removed and many others have been as well. To put it simply it was the most traumatic thing that has ever happened to me, I still have nightmares about my years in this place.

my son mas here for 12 months,no money in the world can undue the trauma he experienced there. Abuse, intimidation, and shaming are their tactics. The program absolutely leads you to believe it's about bringing these kids back to a good life. They have to use the bathroom outside, aren't allowed to talk, only church all day on Sunday's despite your religion. Not to mention they have a terrible reputation in the town as abusers. He makes them run everywhere they go, and has them work on his home located outside the gates of the facility!! Criminal. He allows them to fight each other, puts them in diapers...Absolutely zero counseling. They claimed they had counseling and dr's-which they did not and they changed my kid's meds, even though it was written that it was NOT supposed to happen. Wouldn't let him or us talk to each other, or visit. Went through our mail and my child's. They want your $$$. They claim to teach them a trade but they only have them do manual labor on his farm. They created no goals to work on, had no notes of the day?? Not like any residential I ever worked seen.

I had a family member that attended Mel Blount boys ranch and from the very first day he was mentally and physically abused. Mel Blount himself also participated in the abusing of the boys along with his staff.

Update: my son has been home 2 years now. Went from being in special Ed for his behavior to getting straight As in all of his honors classes, playing baseball, lacrosse, and football. At 13 years old, he is a joy to have around. So thankful for Mr. Blount and his family

My son was almost 17 and on the wrong path (skipping and failing school, smoking, fighting, sneaking out and bring extremely rude and disrespectful) and we were really concerned about how he would turn out. Nothing we did made any real impact on his behavior so we searched for a good boarding/military school for months and decided to send him to Blount Youth Home. It was the best decision we ever made and it was perfect place for him. Mr. Blount and his team teach these boys about respect, having good manners and many other important life lessons. The boys learn how do everything concerning running the facility such as laundry, cooking, taking care of the animals, fixing equipment, schoolwork, and keeping an extremely clean and neat bunkroom, bathrooms and common areas. They exercise, live by a schedule, learn to not take things for granted and about making better choices and doing the right thing. My son spent a year there and he would have stayed another 6 months there if COVID-19 had not happened. My son was not perfect when he came back but he was a much better version of his old self. More importantly, I learned how to deal with my son better because of the great advice that Mr. Blount would give me and because I had time and space to reflect on the mistakes my ex-husband and I had made. My son has been home for over a year now and he has a much better group of friends, he graduated high school, he has a job, he is much more respectful and doesn't argue as much and he wants to be a police officer! That would never had happened if it weren't for Mr. Blount and his team. Many boys have gone on to join the military and became successful young men. My son and I both still keep in regular touch with Mr. Blount and my son views him as a grandfather. He and his staff are tough on the boys but they are also encouraging, caring and supportive. Mr. Blount is always rooting for the success of his boys and I'm just so grateful that my son was about to there!

If I could give this place zero I would. The fact that this place hasn’t been bulldozed and every employee incarcerated is a miracle. The people who work there have quite literally made a career out of mistreating, abusing and neglecting children. For every person on here that’s leaving a good review, just know that a parent somewhere might read it and you’ll be one of the reasons another poor child had to suffer the consequences of the wormy, scummy, small minded, Clint Blount.

Be aware that if a child with no previous behavior issues but is put in here by a narcissist parent you will not be able to have ANY COMMUNICATION with your relative who is just a child. That’s right. The home refuses to even let you speak with anyone enrolled here. I would say stay FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! I would recommend Paul Anderson youth home instead where it’s not a prison. Heck even a prison let’s the inmates call their family. Do yourself a favor and google Mel Blount youth home. There are a lot of bad reviews and articles of terrible things that have happened to kids over the years. Some are pretty recent.

I cannot ever express enough appreciation for what this place has done for us. My son, Jeffrey was kicked out of nearly every school he had ever attended(at least 5 -6 different schools) by the age of 10. He was angry, disrespectful, and I had run out of options after his Dad wasn't able to deal with him either. After being in a really bad boarding school myself, from the ages of 15-17, I was paranoid to send him anywhere and risk doing more damage. Having the experience I had as a teen, I knew the red flags to look for. I visited this school on multiple occasions, was able to walk freely around the facility, and took my son off campus so that we could speak one-on-one. He didn't love being there which is obviously expected, BUT he said he was always treated well by Mr. Blount and the other staff. He spent 7 months there and is back home with me. Things have been better than they ever have! I still make him say yes mam/sir, he has similar chores as he did there, and he is doing so well with online school. He's even taking a computer programming class! Everyone that has seen him over the past few months that he's been home has said he's like a different kid. So much happier. I honestly never thought I would see this day. We are not out of the woods yet because he's only 11, but I believe we are headed in a good direction. Thank you all so much! I hope we can come back to visit soon:)

Mel Blount Youth Home, a place for second chances. If I could go back in time, I would but not to change anything, just to see everyone's face again. This place is heaven sent. May God bless this program for saving wayward children.

I was here for almost three years you won't find a more caring and loving family. The youth home is ran by the Blount Family and is the best place for wayward kids that I have ever been to. Education , hard work ethic , respect , discipline and love for one another are important in life and all are taught here.
