I'm sure they do good work. I question the close quarters and the volume. My cat was neutered here and caught a respiratory virus while he was there. He almost died and was in ICU for 2 weeks as he was a small six month old kitten at the time. He brought this virus home and all 7 of my other fully vaccinated 100% unexposed to other cats indoor only felines caught it from him, including one with a grade 5 heart murmur. The only exposure was the kitten going out to get neutered at the Athens Humane Society. Unless they are on a leash, the closest our cats get to outside is the screen porch we built for them.As I said I'm sure they do good work but working in volume like this expect your cat or dog to be exposed to god knows what. If you do go here, make sure you have bordetella up to date. After our trip here, we ended up with a month + of sicknesses and $1200 in vet costs. And most of all, we almost lost a precious member of our family. If you're reading this and love cats, please spay and neuter and consider supporting TSR and community cat programs. Also, you can reduce the spread of diseases that do not have vaccines by keeping your cats indoors when possible. All of our cats are formerly feral, found as kittens, and we TSR'd their moms at our own expense as our county has no programs. Our cats are Feline leukemia and FIV free.

Great place to get your next pet! Go check it out or volunteer! They make it easy to sign up and help out even if you can’t adopt!

Really clean place and friendly staff. If you’re looking for wellness appointments, it’s hard to schedule because they book quick. If you happen to schedule and need to reschedule, good luck. No one picks up the phones.

We recently adopted a cat from here. Love their new facility! Clean and. Great layout! Their process is also great! You are able to pick animals to meet and spend time with in little rooms, and their adoption process is streamline. I definitely recommend if you are looking to add a pet to your family!

I adopted a kitten from this shelter through a foster. The kitten I received had fleas, really bad stomach issues, was completely underweight. I was told she was completely healthy. When she was 2 months old the foster came to my house to take the kitten to get fixed, she called me after and told me the surgery went well and she was going to pick up Strudel, she comes to the door and gives the cat back and says they mixed up the kittens and strudel didn’t actually get fixed. She was there, ALL DAY.Strudel was so SCARED, she pooped all over herself, I didn’t feel comfortable taking her back to that vet after what happened, 600 dollars later after taking her to a real vet, multiple times, she is a healthy kitten. They never called me back about getting her fixed, when I asked the foster to take her back so she could get looked at she told me I was on my own. I love my new pet, she’s my world but this was completely unprofessional, they charged me $150 for an unhealthy kitten and then never even fixed her. She’s still not fixed, I would really like someone to call me so we can come to a resolutionI added a before and after picture so you can see how tiny she was (I’m not a cat expert but I know she was underweight)I Love strudel, but being lied to by the foster and or the shelter is inexcusable.
